Most common theory is the big bang.

I don't believe in God - particularly the Christian/Catholic perspective for many reasons.

It is impossible for me to believe in the "virgin" Mary, in Christ dying and coming back from the dead, and many of the "miracles." If any of us read in the paper today that a preteen was pregnant and that she had never had sex before, how many of us could believe that? It's as if Christians choose to believe that everything was made of magic back then so it could certainly be possible.

The rest of it as well - there is an all-seeing, all-knowing, "god" in the heavens watching over every one of us. Basically that's the story of Santa Claus people - "He's knows when you are sleeping... He knows when you're awake... He knows when you've been bad or good so be good for goodness sake" etc. But once you learn the truth about Santa, you drop it and move on. Why it so difficult to people to accept that the idea of "God" must at some point be challenged as well?

Lastly I've seen it in my own family and in almost every Christian I know. When there is a problem - they pray about it - but what ends up happening is that you do something for yourself, you gather help, you make a decision, whatever - all of the people with other beliefs or none at all just do this without telling themselves that they are "putting it in Jesus' hands." And how about when you want to do something bad - "Jesus will forgive me." He certainly seems to work for whatever believer in just the exact fashion that they desire.

I know that people are going to be mad about this. And of course there is the question of creation - but it was not so long ago that the majority of people believed that the world was flat. Just because it was a "fact" when there was nothing else to believe in, doesn't mean that it will always be a fact.

The true definition of an athiest is a person who does not deny the possibility that God may exist, but doesn't think there is any proof that he does, As for me, I believe in everything and nothing. How did it start? With a big bang, of course!

I honestly have no interest in how "it" started. I will believe in evolution until a better theory disproves it. I am unable to believe in a god. Not "I don't want to believe in a god", but an actual mental inability to believe in something so far fetched. Why would I condemn my soul were I able to believe in a god? It doesn't make sense, and it isn't my "fault". You cannot blame the atheist for the non-existence of god.

Atheist beleive in evolution. We beleive we got here though that process, slowly over the centuries. we evolved from mamals and we still a re mamals. Humans and other mamals have much in common. Even the lowely pig. HIs guts are now processed for use as skin drafts on burn vicitms as we are so close in genetics. There are people walking around for years with pig valves in them as there is less rejection, (or was).
Actually all humans were once atheist with no concept of god. It's true that if you set a god aside he will disappear from your life and you will be forced to live in eternal peace.
God first appeared when the old men of small tribes or families began their take over as the tribla leaders by inventing a god which was supposely so powerful you could not say his name or see him or touch him. From there the god thing grew beyound faith to conquest, war, death, slavery,

just because we aren't Christians or a standard accepted religion doesn't mean we are atheist or that we don't believe in a god.
It all started with a big bang and a lot of space

Simply because something cannot currently be proven does not mean that it defaults to "god". That type of thinking has stalled scientific progress for many centuries...."Well, no reason to research this, we can just attribute it to a higher power".

There are many examples of this, the Sun (Apollo), Thunder/Lightning (Zeus/Jupiter), hurricanes, etc.

With the preface aside, there are several theories that are currently being researched that are very interesting.

I don't know how it all started, I don't really need all the answers. I do believe that evolution took place and still is. I don't believe there are any Gods.

I believe in wisdom, compassion, science. The big bang and evolution. I believe when humans put aside their differences
and concentrate on bettering the world then we will reach
heaven (if you want to call it that) here on earth while we are still alive.

There is a God & without him none of us would be here today. Just look at the world we live in today , its the sign of the times.
