I had much the same problem. Braces are good, if you can deal with the feeling of metal in your mouth. You'll get used to it.

Have you had your wisdom teeth taken out? If you have, then you won't have to deal with a retainer afterwards. If you haven't...well, be diligent with your retainer--it does pay off. I had an overbite that would make a beaver look normal, and my front teeth were out of place something awful. Went through braces, and then a retainer for a while (until wisdom teeth came out--ouch!), but now have a straight and brilliant smile. =D

Hope this helps.

Braces are good because they really do fix your teeth. I've had braces for the last 7 years, on and off and i've seen a TREMENDOUS difference. You may not think about it now but having a gap makes some think badly about themselves and iI can't think of anything worse than being an old adult and having braces. Also, if you don't like the whole "metal mouth" thing, they have have clear braces so that you don't feel as self-conscious.

i think you should get the braces because they will probably give you more confidence when you talk. I have braces and i must say that there are ups and downs. Your teeth are very sensitive the first week after every time you get them adjusted. you should talk to your dentist. He/she will find the best solution to your problem. Plus braces can be an accesory.

Get them if need be. You'll only have them like a year or something and then you don't have to worry about it the rest of your life.
