- If a teacher is having sexual relations with a student of legal age, what is the likelyhood of there having been an intimate relationship between them when the student wasn't of legal age?

- Should these relationships be taken more seriously? If they are not, would these relationships begin to include younger students?

Sexual relationships between students and teachers is always discouraged and frowned upon. In the case of underage students being approached sexually by a teacher, it should ALWAYS be reported to the police immediately! A pedophile is a danger to all students and needs to be addressed! Please do not wait!
If a teacher & student (now of legal age) have a sexual relationship, and they knew each other before then, chances are excellent that it was happening all along.

You can report it to your local police or http://cybertipline.com

If a teacher can have an intimate relationship with a student,it could at any age.Just because THIS student happens to be of legal age does not meant that it had not started when the student was a minor, also could mean that teacher has been having relationships with other students, possibly minors. There should be an investigation on this teacher. This teacher should not have a job anymore.

There should never be a sexual relationship between teacher and student. Even if the student is of legal age, there is an inequity in the relationship because the teacher is in a power position.
In most cases I have heard of the pupil was under age when it started. This is abuse of the most heinous kind. For most teens there is a glamour (false but perceived) in a relationship with an "older man/woman" which leads them into believing their relationship is different. In fact it is usually just one in a string of affairs for the teacher. When this is realized by the teen it leads to feelings of anger, betrayal, and inadequacy, which can mar their futures.
Can they lead to younger students? Letourno preyed on a 12 year old! Enough said?
I catch any "teacher" using my nieces he will NEVER be able to have sexual relations with anyone ever again...if he lives through it!

It is unethical for a teacher to have sex with a student even if the student is of legal age. It is conflict of interest besides being immoral and desperate.
What can an adult have in common with a teen? Really!
These relationships should be looked at for what they are. I have had students who had crushes on me. Even when they became of legal age, were no longer my students and asked me out, my answer was still no. In my book it is unethical and unacceptable.
If the relationships are including younger students, that person should be jailed for LIFE!

I think that it is morally and should be legally wrong for the teacher to even pursue a relationship with her/his student. Most of these cases are female teachers and male students what is wrong with these women it isn't like a 16 year old boy is going to say no when he has an older woman naked in front of him saying f**k me, I mean these female teachers totally take advantage of the younger boys though. I think that there should be something done about it. If it was my son in that situation that teacher would have a world of hurt coming to her! I think that there should be laws on this.

I think sorium needs to think again because if a 16 yr old boy is getting extra help after school and is attracted to his teacher and she comes onto him come on he is only 16 what is on a 16 yr old boy's mind a lot SEX!!! HELLO!! IT ISN'T THE PARENTS FAULT! THE TEACHERS NEED TO HAVE SOME MORALS TOO!! IT ISN'T THE PARENTS FAULT IF THE TEACHER COMES ONTO HER 16 YR OLD MALE STUDENT AND HE TAKES THE OFFER UP! YEAH KIDS NEED TO BE TAUGHT MORALS BUT IT ISN'T THE PARENTS FAULT IF THE KID TAKES THE OFFER UP!

This relation should not b taken seriously because the student is not in legal age but as long as these people love each other theres nothing wrong with that. And if they doing that for the sake of sex,well... thats already a sexual abuse in part of the student but if the student really likes what thier doin then it doesn't matter if they will continue to have some fun.

I think even if the student is 18 it is still inappropriate, even at the college level. So taking these relationships more "seriously" is out of the question imo. It shouldn't be happening in the first place.

The term 'carrying on' makes it sound sleazy. This instructor could have not made something glaring at the same time as at school and in basic terms seen the girl at weekends along with her mum and dad permission. i do no longer know what age team are called Junior severe yet, if this replaced into obligatory preparation, he replaced into there to instruct the girl and not something greater. Privately, seeing her replaced into their business enterprise yet while this occurs in faculties for all to work out the government do step in via fact the instructor is being unprofessional. it would be a similar able to labor. If a chairman replaced into seeing one in each and every of his workers in a private way he may be clever to no longer make that glaring interior the placement of work. private relationships could be carried out in private - elementary a that - and then there will be no gossip.

to your first question: it's pretty likely, but very possible also that the teacher and student were smart and law-abiding and held off their sexual relations until the student was of legal age. to your second question: if you mean should teachers be punished for having sexual relations with a student of legal age, I believe the school should penalize the teacher if the student is a current student, but it should not be illegal. if it's a sexual relation with a former student, I bellieve there should be no punishment.
