Well this is a common response when the matter of our evolutionary origins comes up, but of course we are apes, not monkeys - Monkeys have tails, apes do not (little biology lesson there, hope you enjoyed it).

Why is it so unpleasant to think that we are apes, descended from other apes? We are what we are, regardless of where we came from - We haven't suddenly lost our capacity for empathy or compassion or love, just because we know that we're a species of animal, rather than the special creation of a deity. What exactly is the problem? Does the monstrous ego of theists prevent them from accepting that they're not, after all, the centre of the universe?

"Are you insinuating that the beloved General Robert E. Lee had simian origins???" I thought i'd through that quote from Gen. Pickett from the movie "Gettysyburg". I guess people are vain and won't accept objective reality when its staring them in the face.

To me, the debate is over, we won,...we have the fossils.

DNA is by no skill received, its continually lost. Then why can we've diverse DNA than monkeys? If we began out as some complicated batch of chemical substances, then why are we like this on the prompt? As for the youngsters-adults area. children are little adults, toddler monkeys are little individual monkeys. If in accordance to evolution, each and each of the animals were slowly evolving, than why are we no longer evolving? we are nevertheless the exact same as we the position 2000 years in the past. you gained't see a difficulty, yet I actually do. Now lets say we are both proper. you're the ancestor of a monkey who grow to be choosing fleas off different monkeys and that i'm someone who grow to be created with a lot love, created with a soul, heart, and procedures. i visit love, imagine, make undesirable judgements, make good judgements. I have a concience. no one might want to ever clarify why we've a concience. For monkeys its merely devour, sleep, mate, stay alive, and so on. So in accordance to you, thats all you're... Ouch. i'd somewhat be me.

Hi again. I do have a problem thinking that I came from an ape. I am not an animal, nor were any of my ancestors. I am happy to realize that I was Created, just like everyone else on the planet, including you whether you want to believe it or not, in the image of God. I have a purpose on this earth. I was created for a reason. God loves us so much that He made us in His image, & wants us to have Him as our best friend. He gave us brains, & beauty, & strength, & feelings. And why are there still apes if they figured being human is so much better? Why has there not been ANY evidence to prove the evolution of any thing? I am proud to say I came from a very intelligent Creator, not from a rock, or an animal. And God did make us (humans) his most valuable, & prized creation. He likes & loves us (pple including you & me) the most!

It doesn't bother me where humanity came from. I'm more interested in where we're heading!

Maybe the phrasing should be changed just a bit. Would it be more palatable to the religious folk if it was worded that humanity has ascended from apes? We're more than they are, after all.

Well - most of us, any way.

I dont find it to be disagreeable -- I just dont find it to be true...

--
It is relevant to note that...

Darwinism is ultimately a statement of Atheist Faith.

As Evolutionist Stephen J. Gould has stated, evolutionists "know" that Evolution has occurred; however, there is controversy about the mechanisms involved. In other words, evolutionists are arguing and fighting about the mechanisms involved.

This is code-speak for the fact that evolutionists "believe" that evolution happened without God, but they dont really know exactly how. They have a bunch of conjectures and speculations, but they do not have empirical proof of atheistic macro*evolution.

--
There is no evidence that proves Atheistic MacroEvolution (without Intelligent Design)...

I used to believe in Evolution. However, over a period of time I have grown skeptical of the claims of Macro*Evolution... this is largely due to the weakness of the evidence for Macro*Evolution, and the fact that the evidence, rationally interpreted does not support the overarching claims made by Macro*Evolutionists...

For scientific and intellectual critiques of evolution, see http://www.godsci.org/gsi/apol/evo/00.html .

Is Evolution a FACT? Not really -- not in the macro*evolutionary sense. See http://www.godsci.org/gsi/apol/evo/evofaq2.html for relevant discussion.

---
I find that the vast majority of people who believe in evolution, do so by faith and authority.

Faith -- because atheistic macro*evolution is a faith; and Authority -- because they believe in the word of "experts" in the field, rather than truly understanding the evidence themselves.

Cordially,
John

the problem is ignorance.
and the fact that we are still part of the primate species.
no one wants to admit that--- people want to say that aliens landed here and left their seeds, or that we were created out of earth dust and then for women, adam's rib. and it is chimps that humans are most closely related to, the only difference is that we can talk and b.s. on yahoo answers.

Of course we're not the center of the universe. All things were made by, for, and through....Jesus Christ.

God created me, just as He created you, and every single person who has ever lived, for a purpose. And He loves each of us.

That is what I believe.

It is simply untrue. Human beings were made in the image of God. You and I were NOT made in the image of monkeys. I find it tasteless and irritating that people accept this mediocre explanation to a rather simple question.
