Did anyone think that maybe if we had use of the power that lies dormant in us...there might be a mutiny...a mutiny against the very thing so many blindly lets control them.

Because magic and prophecy was reserved for Jesus and those who were in the hierarchy of the church. If you want to control people and make them feel that they are unworthy of God's love, you have to convince them that anyone below a status approved of by the church can't have that power from the same source. Therefore any source other than Divine and must be evil in nature. Breed enough fear and you get fanaticism and witch hunts.

Magic is forbidden in the Bible because the use of occult powers can open us (humans) up to the influence of spirit beings (demons) who have rebelled against God.

Such beings can provide us powers, or make things happen in response our incantations or spells (so we think we are making these things to happen, when it is really a deceptive spirit being that is causing the things to happen)...

Sucn beings can then deceive us into a wrong world-view (and lead us ultimately away from God).

The Bible tells us that Lucifer (an incredibly beautiful angel) can manifest himself as an Angel of Light -- and deceive us. And so can the other spirit beings (demons) who have chosen to follow Lucifer.

So, as far as magic (and the occult in general) is concerned...
Caveat Emptor !

Cordially,
John

Magic is a form of idolatry and is also disobedience to God. It is Satanic and opens the door to all kinds of evil.

Because the men who wrote it were afraid of what they didn't understand. All this "divinely inspired" infallibility stuff is man-made to put guilt and fear into people's lives... supposedly to "help" them. Lord, deliver us.
