I really want a baby Chihuahua. I was hoping there was a breeder out there that can let me know their dog's expected weight at maturity, upkeep and cost. And how I can buy one from them. Thanks!

Ok I understand now that there's no such thing as a teacup. That's not the issue.

Be very leery of people advertising teacup Chihuahuas or promising you that your baby will never weigh more than 2 lb. Chihuahuas are a toy breed, period. No teacups, miniature, posckets, etc. Breeders who use the term are looking to make a ton of money off of unsuspecting people who buy into the teacup hype. Also, don't buy over the internet. You could end up like the lady who posted on yahoo answers this week about buying a maltese pup from a breeder on the internet, and had the puppy shipped to her, and she anxiously waited the arrival of her new baby.. She spent thousands of dollars on the baby, and a ton of money on vet bills and it died 4 days later. You need to see the pup in perosn, see the breeder, where and how the pup is raised. If someone ships you a pup, it could come from a puppy mill or puppy broker. Beware. Try to buy a pup locally.
I am a breeder of Chihuahuas. I could try to scam you with the teacup hype and charge you thousands of dollars, but I am not like that. I believe in honesty.

There is no such thing as a "teacup" Chihuahua. Any breeder who delibrately breeds Chihuhuas to be smaller then the standard calls for is not a responsible breeder so steer clear. Breeders who advertise "teacup" size dogs use it as a sales gimic to lure people into buying puppies from them. Dogs bred smaller or larger then the standard intended very often have serious health issues and structural deformities.

I have an adult 3 pound chihuahua that is due to give birth any time now. I have the father as well and he to is 3 pounds. That is as close to a "teacup" as you can get. They are very small and adorible. beckydansby@yahoo.com

I'd be sure they were the breed for you before you went and bought one. They are notoriously hard to housebreak too.Have you tried a breed specific rescue group yet? They could give you a tremendous amount of info on them.
