If you accept the fact that God exists, you must also accept the fact that you might get punished for all the mistakes you've made. If you want to be a good christian you'll have to pass down a lot of things that might tempt you, and it's just easier to to pretend you won't have to answer to anyone after you die.

Why would I be afraid to believe in something that I find hard to believe in the first place. If anything those without a belief in god are stronger because we know that we won't be redeemed if we repent or pray to god. Touche to you, if you don't care about what I believe then why did you ask the question in the first place. I find your argument hard to understand, you ask a legitimate question and then in return you question me for answering your question. I believe a good religious argument is just as good as any other conversation, but most people get offensive and do things like you just did. Maybe in the future a persons religion won't be put under the microscope every time they see an intriguing question or area to input their opinion.

Not weary at all.

I don't believe in god and I think people who do believe are afraid not to.

Most of us who are atheists actually took the time to research the path of atheism whereas most "Christians" are on a path set by their elders (parents, teachers, priests). You had to do no such work for it - it was put forth unto you.

Now, without the will to go against all those you hold dear, you simply belief. It's both convenient and it maintains respect of those who "showed you the way".

Oh gosh!!! Another thumper. Lady, this is an open forum. Anyone can come in here and post what they want and answer any question. Why can't you accept accountability and responsibility for your actions instead of wanting to place it on some dead dude who never even existed? I am pretty confident of my own beliefs. I don't think you are. That is why you have to post such a question.

My own personal opinion is that time is very VERY short, & Jesus Christ will be returning soon. The attack on the Judeo-Christan church is alot more prevelent than in years past. The scrpiture also tells us "As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be at the comming of the son of Man"!

I am a firm believer in Jesus as my savior. My pastor Joel Osteen of Lakewood Church in Houston Texas tells us very often "Don't magnify your problems, magnify your God"

My disbelief in your god is not due to fear, but to reason. No-one has ever, in all of human history, provided one single valid argument nor one single shred of evidence for the existence of any deities. Moreover, the existence of an intelligent creator can be readily shown to be logically impossible. Why should I believe something that is unsupported and demonstrably impossible? That would be ridiculous.

If you believe in God there are certain responsibilities that you must confront. God made us to know, love, and serve Him. As my friend Maria says, "Is no easy." Not easy at all.
Study and meditation help to know, knowledge helps to love, but service comes straight from the first two. a believer knows just what to do.

You can thank the early leaders of the Christian church for that. In making a religion of fear and shame to face your father and the maker of your soul which is made from the body of the Creator.

Your "fear" non-argument makes no sense, for several reasons.

Don't christians talk about fearing god all the time, and that's considered a good thing?

I have to actually have a pretty firm idea that something exists before my brain can contemplate whether to be afraid of it or not. I am afraid of sharks, I'm not afraid of fire breathing dragons

Assuming for the moment that I believed in him, and I was afraid of him, then I would have to be pretty frickin' stupid not to believe in him....see? It's a circular argument...I can't fear him without believing in him first. One implies the other
.

If I had to believe in a god...I would prefer it be one that wants only my love awe and respect for its' greatness and gee thanks for creating me...not one who threatens to fry my *** for eternity because I found the evidence for it's existence to be not very compelling.

I am here because I am weary of YOUR beliefs, and the beliefs of all *religious types because these days, people who engage in magical thinking lead countries that have access to weapons of mass destruction.

THE WORLD CAN NO LONGER ALLOW YOU THE LUXURY OF YOUR DELUSIONS

The question should be "Why are we afraid to NOT believe in god". The whole idea is SO ridiculous and absurd, yet millions and billions suck it up like it's some sort of magic "get out of jail free" card.
