I'm ashamed of the whole war. While we go about our business, the world is building a hatred of us. hiding behind a god doesn't make it right.

Pretty much amazing..
So are people who are calling into question the Newspaper who for the longest time in history has the highest standard of journalist integrity in the news industry, the newspaper that coined the phrase "All the news that's fit to print" and still has the widest redership of any daily periodical on the planet because they haven't been provided talking points about this issue by their political party? Because I don't har any of you discussing what are known facts or adressing the question. To say that the New York Times doesn't know what's going on in the middle east while it's journalists are embedded in combat units is moronacy. They're a lot better informed than anyone posting to this question are.
This isn't the work of the USMC. It's the actions of a select few Marines. While many hands have covered this up and many heads turned the other way you cannot blame all Marines for what happenned in this case.

The question is "Am I ashamed of the United States Marines?"
No... I am proud of the Marines, and indeed of all of our armed forces they are doing the best they can under horrific conditions, with crappy leadership and no clear end in sight.
Now anybody who dismisses this because it is from a "liberal news source" is a moron... period. To the guy who said it is from the NY times so it isn't reliable, and to the guy who said that it is a liberal news source so.... you both need to wake up and think for yourselves.
The AP reported this story to, is everybody a liberal news source? Fox news probably spun this the other way but I will say this, if these marines are guilty, then they deserve to be punished and stripped of that title, because marines do not do this sort of thing. When they commited these acts (if they did as they are presumed innocent until proven otherwise) then they WERE NOT marines, they had given up the right to that title, and became thugs in a uniform.
The horrors of war are going to make some people snap, the increased reporting of incidents like this do not indicate that incidents like this are on the rise. It just indicates that we live in a time when it is harder to get away with things like this. The military does not want bad PR, and neither do we as a nation, but historically things like this have always happened during wars. It is regretable but true none the less.
So no, I am not ashamed, but I am saddened that these men turned their back on the oath they swore. And for that justice will await them no matter what form that justice takes.

IF that's a cut and paste of an actual newspaper article, why are there misspelled words and incorrect phrasing?? Erudite.....when you try to type a newspaper or magazine article or anything else, you should be more careful. Not everyone is quite as illiterate as you are. Maybe instead of "copying" it and adding YOUR OWN WORDS, you should list a link so that we can see it ourselves. Then, you might actually have a statement worth replying to.
RE: The Pentagon officials told the Times that the Marines were trying to cover up the crime and protect Bush. The Marines are pround of their actions. (shame shame Eruidite....I wonder if you could be reported for a crime for this action.....once again, I suggest instead of trying to fake info that you LIST SOURCES!!

No American should ever question the action of a US Marine until that American picks up a rifle and defends the freedom that has been GIVEN to that American. That is one of the biggest problems that many Americans have. They do not appreciate the freedoms they ave nor do they know the price that is required to maintain it. So for those Americans who never have made a single commitment to protect their freedoms or another Americans freedoms, I suggest that you shut up and enjoy every once of freedom that has been GIVEN to you!

Typical of the NY Times to second guess soliders which they have no idea about and were not there. I do not have the right to criticize any solider who fights in a hot zone. They never know who their enemies are. The terrorists dress as civilians.
Besides, this is from the same orgainzation that is known as having gross liberal bias, publishes leaked classified information, and consistently loses customers because they publish garbage like this.
In America, we are innocent until proven guilty. Get a conviction and then talk to me about this.

Who cares if they did commit crimes, as long as they didn't do it here in the states. Heck, illegal immigrants commit a crime as soon as they cross any border, overstay any visa, or forego checking in when they are supposed to attend school. Crime is crime, how can we punish one, and not punish the other. i understand the different degrees of the crimes, but all crimes should have a consequence. Not consequences for one and rewards for another. These guys are innocent until proven guilty. Hwever, the illegal immigrants are guilty, but want us to believe they are innocent.

I do not feel that I should judge these Marines until ALL the evidence has been produced, and they have had their day in court. We all know how the truth gets distorted--especially by the media--and it just wouldn't be fair to pre-judge someone until the unbiased facts are known.

No, this Liberal Democrat is not and never will be. My in-laws are both former Marines. And the United States Marines have a long history of valor and dedication to this nation.
Yes crimes have been committed, but by individual men driven to their breaking point and not by the Corps.
They have never broken their faith with us and we should never break ours with them.
