It’s good to see religion being banned from public schools, a step that certainly protects our children from a potentially very dangerous and damaging belief system.

Should we promote this trend and push for further bans on religious education and religious meetings being held in public places, television, churches and such like. I bit like having bans on smoking in various places because smoking is damaging to your health. Religion is really no different in this regard, except that is more damaging.

It should be kept out of schools but shutting down churches is unconstitutional. One day they will become useless and shut down on their own.

A few weeks ago, the Ohio State Board of Education debated whether or not to allow the state science standards to include “intelligent design” — a theory that claims scientific evidence points to levels of complexity in nature that can only be explained by design (an argument that critics dismiss as creationism in disguise).

And in early March, a Pennsylvania school board cancelled a speech by a “creation science” proponent in the face of a threatened lawsuit. But such speakers pop up in other schools districts on a regular basis.

why do you people not want a compromise...you already took prayer out of school. why can't you let the children have a hope that there is something else something better...kids that don't have much hope will no longer have any hope...don't you also tell your kids that there IS a santa...which by the way also spells satan

It is unfortunate that you have such a jaded view of religions and those who chose to worship freely in our country. I imagine that someone from a religious background has hurt you or someone close to you, for this i truly apologize. I just wish that you could not generalize and lump the entire sack , with a few bad apples. The same correlation could be made to every group whether religious or not. Bad people are bad people, religious or not, churches have good people and bad ones, just as people who do not attend churches are good and bad. I hope you are able to separate the two and live a much happier life.

I wish you all the best!!

I personally am not in favor of 'banning' religion.I do think education on ALL the many systems of belief is in order, and I do think that there should be penalties for infringing upon people's rights.Such as a monetary fine for disturbing people at 9 am on their day off to preach about a dead guy and what it says in some old book.

SAYS WHO? There is a LARGE amount of people that find in religion something they cant find anywhere else... A lot of people need something to believe in...
The whole John Lennon 'imagine no possesions, no countries and no religion too' may sound good in theory but in reality, its impossible. Remember, theres a reason why people have been having religions for thousands of years....

You sound like a fanatic.

Aren't you against all the violence, hatred, ignorance and intolerance that you often see in religious fanatics?

Well look at that, it doesn't seem to depend on religion so much, after all.

Yes and if the Church wants to get involved in politics, they should pay taxes like everyone else....

Religion is supposed to teach love but it breeds hatred, ignorance, and intolerance.

Avoid it.

If you like the idea so much go live in a place like North Korea. I'm sure they would welcome you with open arms.......while they tap your phone, watch you through cameras, have your neighbors spy on your every move, tell you where to work and live........ and if that's not good enough for you......just wait till the Tribulation period. I'm sure you will fit in fine
