Your registry is for showers and for the wedding. However, people are not obligated to choose a gift from the registry. It is merely a list of suggested items that you could use for your new home. And don't return the dish towels. You'll need more than you can imagine. They will come in handy.

There are a lot of things that could be given. Photo frames are always apprecitated as the bride and groom never have enough frames in which to display their wedding pictures. (personally I like to give crystal or silver)

Beautiful flower vases are another thing most people don't have enough of when they unexpectedly get flowers. If you can find one on sale you might want to include a gift certificate to a flower shop. What about a gift certificate to a nice resturant to keep the romance alive after the wedding.

One of the most appreciated gifts that I gave for a while was placemats for various holidays. I shopped around and found out of season placemats and napkins at various stores (2 each) and added a favorite recipe for the holdiday. They could be generic enough to work for a couple of holidays. (ie. red or red and white placemats with matching or contrasting napkins. If working with red and white you can add green ribbons tied around the set so they can be used for Christmas and use blue napkins to use for 4th of July, as well as Valentine's Day. If the mat is mainly green it could double for St. Patrick's. Orange could be paired with brown for Thanksgiving and black for Halloween. I rolled each set up with the appropriate recipe(s) inside. The bride and the party guests all loved the idea...and how much more personal can you get? Check outlet stores, Big Lots, Pier One outlet, big department stores, etc. for cute and often inexpensive (on sale) placemats and napkins. Use your imagination.

Happy wedding!

Well, if you know the couple well just get something you think they will both like...either for the house or just something you think they need. If you don't something for an house is always good, because normally thats what the bridal shower was to help the soon to be married couple perpare for a house together.

Think about kitchen, bathroom, sports she likes, leisures, hobbies, if she lives with the man or not. If she doesn't like cooking, don't bother giving her a blender... I personally don't like to give gift cards, because there is nothing left afterwards to think of you... If you have a special talent, knit something, pottery, scrapbook of recipes, anything that is nice and that will remind her of you and the wonderful time she had at her shower.

if you're running out of time, get a gift certificate/card for somewhere. If you like to shop, then go for kitchen stuff possibly. Give it a general theme for your stuff, example baking, get some of the kitchen stuff you'd use to bake (cookie sheets, brownie pan, measuring cups, etc.). Try to go for the stuff you don't think others would be likely to buy (or the forgotten items)so that way they aren't stuck with a lot of one item but none of something else.

I bought an embroidered bag that said 'the future mrs. .......' off Ebay, it was beautifully done and the bride loved it! What would be better to carry all her wedding planning stuff in and it will make a nice keepsake. I also gave her embroidered towels but didn't get as much positive feedback about them.

Something personalized always makes a great gift. (i.e. an engraved photo album for the wedding pictures, trinket box, ect)
Checkout the "attendant gifts" section on wedding websites like customweddingsolutions.com
theknot.com
You can usually find them cheaper at those places than at local shops.
