I need to learn to touch-type in another language. I type in english not very fast, 34-44 words per minute, it took me so long to learn that. Now i need to learn typing in another language, and oh, it is like bricklaying! So hard. I have a trainer program. I know that usually it takes couple weeks to learn, i must be doing something wrong. My fingers are actually fast, i am a musician.
Does anyone have any suggestions based on your experience?
Thank you so much

Practise is the only way to get better.
Make it part of your routine, even if it
is only for 15 minutes a day. You'll
improve your skills. Don't rush it.
Soon, you'll be flying fingers on the
keyboard.

The problem is actually not your typing, it is that the spelling of the words that you're typing aren't in your memory (because they're in a foreign language) - most of the time you're typing from memory, and your fingers know how the word is spelled, but I suspect that, if you're typing in French, you may be able to conjugate the verb immediately, but to translate, conjugate, remember how to spell, and then type it becomes difficult. If you're typing in a langugage that doesn't use Latin fonts, (cyrillic, kanji, katakana) it adds another layer of frustration. Work on learning how to spell in the other language, and your typing will naturlly improve.

Most community colleges offer keyboarding from beginners to advanced, if this is not an option this is how I learned to ype faster.
I went from hunt and peck ( 20 - 30 wpm ) to about 60 - 70 wpm.
I still type unconventionally but much faster.
It was from playing online games, rofl I know
There are also typing programs that you can buy, or download for free.

I did absolutely awful in typing class, but now I can type about 60 words per minute. I learned to type faster by chatting with my friends on-line. You just naturally get faster the more that you type, and chatting with friends gives you the motivation to want to type faster

Try taking a typing class in school and buying typing program software. You should also use all of your fingers while not typing.
