Let's first define "GOD" more broadly than Christians and other monotheists do. Leave the Bible out, and just say that "GOD" is some kind of supernatural (i.e. not part of the natural universe) being that via a willful act created the universe and everything within it.

If we can stick to just that definition of GOD, then my answer is "maybe". If you define GOD more strictly as the GOD of the Bible, then I say NO. I personally think that the Bible was written by human beings, writing down the myths that had been passed down to them. The origins of the myths were probably many centuries or even thousands of years before they were first written down.

I think it is true that Humans feel a need to believe in god(s). It is mind-boggling that anything exists at all, let alone a universe so beautiful and with such an amazing diversity of life. We have sentience and a yearning to understand, and where we can't explain something, it is comforting to be able to say "a god did it".

However, "GOD did it" is not an answer. Saying "GOD created the universe" doesn't answer anything, because then we are just left with the question "what created GOD?" If your answer is "GOD has always existed", then why isn't the answer "the Universe has always existed" just as good as an answer?

You are absolutely correct with your observation that more and more people don’t believe in God. This is partly because of the progress made with technology, quick access to information via the internet, and science discoveries. Another reason is also intelligence, which unfortunately is a bit of a hot potato amongst “God” believers.

On the intelligence side, it’s a statistical fact that the higher your education, income, and intelligence, the more likely you are not to believe in a god. For every college student that converts to a religious belief system, 17 college students convert to atheist beliefs. Atheists have an average intelligence of 25 IQ points above their Christian counterparts.

There are other reasons why less people believe in God, including facts like the Bible is far too violent and hypocritical in its content, and logically, the chance of it being correct is so remote, that one could easily conclude that it’s pure fake.

Myself, no I don’t believe in any God.

Personally I beleive that the Universe is too complicated to just have been. I beleive that the way everything in our world is connected and how all of us are connected is evidence enough that some type of higher power has created it all. People tell me that there is too much injustice but if you think about it most of our injustice is caused by ourselves when we chose to use our free will given to us for worse. I also belive that stories and accounts from different religions are very similar containing similar stories and charecters the difference only being some details that make a huge difference ( ie wether or not Jesus is the messiah). I do not think that ppl who live so far from one another can create similar stories and be making it up. So YES I DO BELEIVE IN A HIGHER POWER!

Here It Goes! Im a student and the reason is because Science is proving things. What would you prefer to see some thing or to hear it? Thats why people dont belive in god since science is showing how life began. Plus there are so many gods that i belive in none. Im 17.

at least in america the percentage of people that believe in some type of God is at least 90%, so i'm not sure how you guys came to that conclusion. i personally believe that God is All There Is. We are all a part of it, even animals and plants. life is eternal. we only have five senses. there is a lot going on here that we don't perceive and cannot understand.

GOD(in arabic Allah), the Supreme and Eternal, Infinite and Mighty, Merciful and Compassionate, The Creator and The Provider, He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none equal or comparable unto Him.

Islam is the only religion which recognizes and believes that all the prophets brought the same essential message This message was, still and will be the belief in and submission to ONE God (the Creator and the Sustainer of all things, the Exalted and the Redeemer of all things. The word Islam itself means "submission and surrendering" to God

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Islam is the only religion which teaches the existence of a PERFECT God. A perfect God means that there is no sharer in His Nature and His Attributes:

"Say: He is God, the One and Only; God, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; and there is none like unto Him." (Holy Qur'an, 112:1-4)

Yes, I believe in God, a Higher Power, Universal Energy, or Universe. You choose what you want to name him/her. I am 47, and my life has changed completely since my faith in this God.
I don't really agree with you about not as many people believe in God as there used to be. There just has been a shift in the kind of belief. Many people including myself are not religious, but very spiritual. Many of us do not go to a "Church" to worship him/her. We do that daily in our own homes, and in our hearts. We have no need to "go out there" to have a connection with this Higher Power because many of us are aware of him being within our hearts.
God Bless

YES> I'm 18 and I believe in the God that Jesus Christ revealed. The one true god who is like a loving father which sometimes has to "punish" us inorder so that we may grow and understand in wisdom and holyness.
