Can anyone give me information on applying for a CCW in alameda county, California?

I'm trying to find out any info I can on getting a permit to carry. Any information on the application process as well as anything that might help in getting granted for a permit, would be greatly appreciated.

I've tried contacting the sherrif's department and am waiting for call back. I have done some research on it, and am mostly interested in anyone who has had any experience, and could tell me how the process works and what is the best way to get approved for one.
