school just started here in my hometown yesterday and i like to get to know my kid's bus driver. well basically we live on a covasac and all the parents sit and wait for the bus with their children. The bus driver is a black man and he was talking to one of the black parents and they were using light ebonics..you know like "whats really good" and phrases like that..Since my daughter is mixed i felt i could do the same so i was like "What it is?" and they both looked at me up and down and shook their heads and the bus driver peeled out in a mad fashion..(with kids still in bus)
I dont know what his problem is I tell myself when i look in the mirror that i look like a light skinned Denzel..but still im not "down"

I think that it is crazy. I am not saying that the bus driver is racist. But I do know of Black people who get mad when Caucasians "act Black". To me, it is utterly stupid. What is "acting Black"? Come on!

On the other hand, the bus driver may have felt that you were trying to "talk down" to him. It's hard to say. But I would give it some time and give the driver some space. But I would at least apologize if he felt offended by what I said. I'd let him know that I meant no harm at all. This way, you know that you have done the right thing, no matter what the driver's motivation was for "dissing" you in such a manner. If he isn't racist or at the very least discrimatory, he'll accept your apology and hopefully the school year will go a lot smoother.

The other issue is how the driver peeled off like a lunatic. I'd have to report this. Bringing it to his attention could backfire on you. Ultimately, your children's safety is what is at stake by him acting so childish and STUPID!

Good luck to you.

1. Cul-de-sac.
2. If you want your daughter to feel like an antelope - keep it up.
3. The driver should be reported for his driving. If one of the children had been standing and fallen - he/she could have been hurt. Keep the race card out of it - but this guy should NOT be driving a bus. What will happen when some REAL a**hole calls him the "N" word when the a**hole cuts him off in traffic?
4. Main problem (only problem) is your daughter. She's got it tough enough as it is. Is this guy going to be able to know it was YOU, or were there other parents who heard it? If there weren't - let it go. She's the one who'll end up paying. Good luck...

well the answers u got i see seem pretty racist to me, so maybe u should try talking to your friends, someone who will be honest with you.
for one thing, no one, no matter what their background says "what it is" anymore --- how old are you?
and what do u mean by Ebonics? do u even know the real meaning of that word? that is why they laughed at you because you are stuck in a bubble, i guess.
how can u be "down" with anyone with the way u think anyway?
it sounds as though u are prejudiced, since u automatically assumed that because they were black, that they speak Ebonics. no matter what u thought u heard, doing that just wasn't cool, dude...
you don't label people sweetie if u want to make friends...
stop trying to be cool and next time just say hello.

There is never a good reason to speak improper English to people. It sounds like you were being a smart *** rather than trying to be helpful and besides black people think white people who look and act black are insane so I would stay clear from that. Be who u are not what others think you should be and speak clearly and distinctly and if the other person does not understand you then they are either stupid, uneducated or racist.

As my grandma used to declare: "each and every generalisation is risky, somewhat this one..." you acquire a component, I experienced cranky bus drivers as i'm specific maximum folk have of their lives. notwithstanding, I even have seen and look at some heroic stuff as properly (my spouse became into as quickly as shielded from a gang of thugs who trailed her down the line, with the aid of a bus driving force who became into on his lunch wreck. He enable her in the bus, pronounced as a cab and gave her £5.00 for the fare. He then gave her his inner maximum address to return the money.) So this is my question to you: in case you have been to concentration on the beneficial and keep in mind a particular experience, wherein a bus driving force unquestionably smiled at you, or a tale you examine wherein a bus driving force featured who became into effective and form... do you nevertheless sense hated with the aid of each and every bus driving force? once you get on the bus, do you supply the driving force a grin, a hi or stable morning, a thank you whilst he facilitates you to out on the front? as quickly as you're making an attempt to ascertain fairly of human touch, you would be surprised what beneficial stories you have got.

I think you are at fault.

See this wouldn't have happened if
you had acted as yourself and not
follow the rest and act a certain way.

But you can get hurt by some, just act
normal and don't try to act someway
just because you're kids are half African
American or something because people
will just think the same thing.

It's racism.

Some people look at you and say that your trying to be black. Some black people don't like that cause of how the white people done us back in the day. It's really safe if you don't say that again, you can really get hurt around some people.

Wow, what a big "whopping" mess you've gotten yourself into (sorry). But don't try to fake the slang; people might look at you as a wannabe trying to hard to fit in. But you know you're down, and you've got flava, so just act natural...next time you see them, invite them to join your Eat Klub so they know you're cool.

Go to the busstop with your beautiful black wife so the others can see that you belong. And if they talk stuff you don't understand ask your wife about it later. You don't need to be "down" to be your own cool self.

Try to overlook his obvious racism. Yes, black people have considerable racism against other skin colors.. NOT just whites against blacks as I see in all the newspapers, etc etc..
