I am getting married in February and we are having an outdoor ceremony. Originally it was going to be at 5pm but now we are 2nd guessing that decision because it's a Saturday evening affair and we ddn't want the night to end at 10pm. We also want to enjoy the cocktail hour and do pictures before hand but starting photos at 3pm is too early. Just wondering if it would be "weird" to have a night-time ceremony lit up by only candles, lights directed on the gazebo and paper lanterns hanging from the trees. Our photographer uses lenses that will be fine in that light but I just want to make sure that our guests don't find it odd.

It sounds beautiful. Just make sure that you have tons and tons of candles and lanterns beforehand. You don't have to use them all but you don't want to run out in case it's too dark. Good luck!

That sounds absolutely beautiful. It's not a wedding for your guests, it's for you and your soon to be spouse. Do it how you want it! If the guests find it odd, well, that's their problem.. Maybe it'll be viewed as something new and different!

i think it would be very pretty, and romantic. Maybe you should add a waterfall to go with the "night sounds"
You might want to make a brighter spot for some pictures just in case.

I had my wedding this January 2006 at night like around 6pm till 12midnight. The wedding was done just like what you have describe... it was really nice and so romantic. I think you should go for it... Its really romantic, nice, and unique. Go ahead with your plans that would be really cool.

That sounds beautiful, but do consider that depending on where you live, you and your guests could be freezing your tails off!

As long as you provide enough lighting so that they can see while they're dancing/eating/whatever so they don't hurt themselves or feel like they're partying in the dark, it should be nice.
