I am sure this question has been asked before, but if so I missed the answers. I am sincerely asking what has happened to "you" personally to make you feel such anger towards those of us who do follow Jesus and believe in Him. I know that there are "some" Christians that are over the top and can get very ugly in the name of religion, but I have not personally met any, only seen them on here. But I really don't understand what causes all the negative feelings and hateful words, blasphemous remarks and attitudes to believers. Even though we will never meet, it truly saddens me to read some of the remarks on here.

Well Dave, by that same logic, is it fair to Christians for businesses to take Christmas out of the stores ? You are missing my point, I didn't cause Target & Sears to go back to using the word Christmas in their stores. Reduced sales and low profit margins had as much to do with it as any Christian groups...BUT my point is, what have any of us done to you personally??

Well put Sandy, I stand corrected. And Tomu, I guess you are right, it is the so-called Trolls that are so very offensive, the respectful, thought-provoking questions are one thing but just pervesion and hatred is uncalled for.
Thanks to all of you that gave sincere, honest answers. I hope if my answers on here ever offend you, you will let me know and forgive me. I wish nothing but peace & blessings to all of you--wherever you believe it comes from.......As long as it isn't satan ;-)

From people who have had negative experiances with Christians, they had "Christian" parents that abused them, they were abused by a pastor, there are all sorts of things that Christians have done wrong that create hatered.

I think that people should forgive but it isnt that easy!

Read the book Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller, Its a Christian book that touches on that!

I can tell you exactly why I have hostilities personally, not to speak for others though. ANYONE who EVER tells me I can't think what I want, or believe what I want, is my enemy. I know you are thinking "you can think/believe what you want"... That's where you are wrong. Your people tell me any free thinking person is going to burn and be tortured... FOREVER!!! I am 26, I life can seem long from time to time, but could you imagine ETERNITY?!! When your people tell me that I can be a nice person and do everything right, but suffer the same results as Hitler, Stalin, Vlad, etc. what do you want me to do? Sit there and take it? I stand up for my beliefs and share them, like you do. Christians (generally) have anger with Jews, Muslims, Athiests, Mormons, Agnostics, Pagans, Wickans and so on. You may be thinking "no" right now, but you refered to us free thinkers (for some weird reason) as a "troll". It's OK though, it is a known fact Christianity is on the decline in the USA, I can take the wait, it won't be long. They will exsist for a long time, but thier power is diminishing greatly, even in my life time. I believe 100% in a God, but the true God would NEVER burn you for not believing the right thing. If he is all knowing, and all forgiving, he knows better than I do why I have my beliefs, and will forgive me if I am wrong. In my opinion, EVERYONE is wrong to a great degree. 1 last thought, if a religion can understand God, God could not be that great.

I have seen a lot of hateful words on here in the Religion and Spirituality section as well. But I don't think that Christianity has it the worst. I have seen negative comments toward other religions and agnostics and atheists as many times as I have seen them towards Christianity. I am an atheist and I don't have any anger towards Christians, or anyone else for that matter.

Since FOO answered this question you can expect him to send you an insulting and completely misspelled message then quickly change his preferences so that you cannot reply. He's a fanatical coward who only chooses to insult people who disagree with him.The rest of the answers seem to have some thought behind them though.I don't feel anger towards anyone for their beliefs. It's your preference and noone knows for sure who's right.Only people with insecurities about the accuracy of the information they base there religious beliefs on lash out the way you describe. That's coming from a non christian.

In this the end times Satan is working very hard to capture as many souls as he possibly can. You either listen to the Lord or the Devil there is no in-between. Unfortunately many are listening to the devil in these last days and it was prophesized in the bible that this would be so. When we are bashed here it gets anger up even though we should turn the other cheek, but we are not perfect and fall short of perfection like all of humanity.

In truth, people don't hate God or Jesus, per say. They just can't tolerate their followers who are violent & forceful. Christians that won't allow others to make their own decisions.

Here are just a few:

It's because of Christian followers have a long history of violence, force & scare tactics to get people to convert.

Because of the early church's control over the people.

Because the religion preaches "They are the Only Way to God"

Which negativity are you talking about? There's the rational side that criticizes the dictates of christianity because of the inconsistencies or just logical impossibilities of the religion, and then there's the trolls. The trolls are one thing, but the former is a bit more objectiv

The repressed hate towards Christians in real life released because there is no way the Christians here are going to chase after us with meat cleavers.

It is the Christians that continually try to have their agenda fulfilled via laws and government intervention. It is the Christian right who tries to push their beliefs upon the rest of us by trying to get ID (Intelligent Design - a crock of crap) taught in schools. It's the religious right that is pushing to take a woman's choice over her own body away from her. It's the religious right that fire bomb's clinics and shuts down porn shops.

The only thing worse than the above is that the moral majority lets it happen because we as the majority are complacent, lazy and don't realise it's happening.

If you can point out ANY situation where a group of atheists fire bombed a building, protested a soldier's funeral, suicide bombed a cafe, etc etc, I'll eat my hat.

Let's just say I won't have to part with my hat.
