When someone has an abortion in the first trimester does the fetus have a soul? I heard psychic Sylvia Browne say that the fetus would not get their soul until the time of birth coming into the world alive. So if you abort the fetus is there not a soul????I am trying to find out as I had an abortion years ago but the horror of what I did just hit me yesterday for some reason. I went on the internet to look at pictures of aborted fetuses and I now hate myself and can't believe I did that. The guilt is killing me. I am trying to find my way back to christ as I have been away from him for a long time and was fascinated with psychic stuff and paranormal stuff. Please pray that I find my way back to him and yes I know that I am horrible for what I did to that baby so you don't have to tell me, I know.

No. I don't think so. Just one of god's ways of trying to teach you a lesson in life, and an important one. Obviously you learnt it. Good work.

Forgive me but Sylvia Browne is not be believed. Not by me at any rate. How in the hell would she know this?

I believe that the "soul" is that spark of life, that energy, that something, that makes us who we are. An embryo or fetus is most certainly alive and has a soul. The soul, the life energy goes where all life energy goes when its freed from the body. Call it Heaven if you like. No one can truly know. If it comforts you to think of this "place" as Heaven, do so. That won't change what it is, whatever THAT is.

From about the second week after conception until the end of the 8th week, it is an embryo. After that, it is a fetus.

Sounds like you had a delayed reaction. What's done is done and don't look back. I've lived a long time and I've had two and I've never regretted either one. Your reasons must have been sound so you did the right thing. So many people think "Oh yeah, have the child and put it up for adoption instead". Most of these kids don't get adopted and end up in less than adequate foster care. Our foster system is a mess and a lot of the kids who go through it are too. Some of the kids simply run away and end up on the streets to be killed there later, work at prostitution, and do and/or sell drugs.

You have already been forgiven by God. Now you just need to forgive yourself.

Aborted fetuses are no more horrible to look at than an amputed limb or a head that's been crushed by a car tire. Have you ever seen those?

And to those who would say how heartless I am and that I'm supposed to be saving life, I say that sometimes my job is to help people die well. And no unwanted child should be brought into this world.

A woman becomes pregnant because long before she ever came here she charted with another soul to have them as her child so that both could experience and learn. The fetus may be in the charted Mothers belly but the Soul for the baby is still in Heaven (or on the other-side) fine tuning the life charted. If at any time the Soul charted decides they have taken on too much in being this child and living the life charted for this child, they can back out! This can happen through an agreement with the charted Mother to have a miscarriage or an abortion, however neither choice is there a Soul involved. There are many abortions that are charted to teach something to those it affects. What upsets me most is when Religious people get on high horses about abortion being murder and it is just not true any more than you could blame a woman who has a miscarriage? If you have so little Faith in God that no matter what decision was made he was not there every step of the way to support the child, fetus baby or what you want to name it under the guise that it has a Soul is saying you have no Faith in God that he knows what is what and is involved in every aspect of creation how ever it works out! Stop harassing, Bullying and Threatening Women who have difficult decisions to make as Souls having a Human experience!

No you are not a horrible person. You are willing to admit you did something wrong which is more than a lot of people will admit to. STAY AWAY from the psychic stuff and the paranormal stuff. I believe a baby has a soul at the moment of conception. What if an innocent baby died before birth? That condemns them? I dont believe that. But from now on don't abort any more babies. A good place to start your healing is to read Matthew 6 and 7. and then prayer. Let God lead you from there. I will pray for you.

The fetus does not have a soul, at that point. Hating yourself and wallowing in guilt will serve no one, and will make you sick, and will indeed, kill you. The way that you look at the world today is not the way you looked at it years ago, so don't expect to have done the same thing. Besides, life is not that easily deterred. Your choice to have an abortion is not enough to keep a soul from incarnating. It will show up in another time and place. If you have faith, don't place it selectively, because that is not faith. Faith is knowing that everything is a part of the Divine Plan, and that we are God's children on good days and bad days. Faith is knowing that everything will work out, one way or another.

I'm atheist agnostic. I believe in reincarnation, of a sort. I do NOT believe life starts as soon as the sperm slams into the egg. But I think it's grossly negligent of a pregnant woman to delay abortion, if she doesn't want to be a mother, anywhere past the second trimester. Unless there's a good reason for waiting, it's irresponsible to let a fetus grow. If you wait until the last minute, and you've got nine months to do it, then that's just reprehensible. Still, it's NONE OF MY BUSINESS! So I stay out of it. I do, however, believe our conscious energy survives when our physical body croaks.

I too don't think you're a horrible person. Yes, it's a tragedy whenever a baby is aborted, but a woman MUST have control over her body. If so-called pro-lifers spent as much energy in ensuring that adolescents (both boys and girls) were properly educated about safe sex and the consequencies of early pregancy, there would be far fewer abortions. Instead, many young women like yourself learn the hard way that pregnancy really can happen to them, and that it changes their life in ways that they couldn't comprehend.

Second, I don't think there is any such thing as a "soul". When we die, our existence stops. I understand why many people have hard time accepting that point of view. It's scary. But proper acceptance of that point of view is also liberating. When you come to accept it, and recognize that we are all responsible for our actions because of our own Reason and Ethics, then we can finally become true Adults. Many "believers" think that if they stopped believing in god then they would suddenly lose their moral/ethical sense. Such people are spoiled children who only behave because of the threat of punishment. That is sad.

So, I urge you to be an adult. Take full responsiblity for your earlier decision, but also be compassionate with yourself. Only you can forgive yourself, and with time and compassion, you will.

First of all, you are not a horrible person. You made a decision in a desperate time when you obviously felt that you had no choice. God forgives those who ask for forgiveness. As hard as it is to actually do, you should let it go and allow yourself to be forgiven. But, yes, a fetus does have a soul. If you believe that children go to heaven when they die because they have no reached an age where they can be held accountable for their beliefs, that that soul is probably in heaven with God. I will pray for you that you can forgive yourself because if you have asked God's forgiveness, then forgiven you are.

First of all, who is Sylvia Browne and where does she get all the knowledge she is spouting. Christians believe that life begins at conception. Do I think your baby had a soul when you aborted him/her? of course I do. Do I think you are horrible for having an abortion? Who am I to pass judgment on anyone? I grieve for your loss. I grieve for your realization of what you did. I grieve for the child who will not feel the sun on his/her face. It is a tragic situation.

BUT---forgive yourself. ASK CHRIST TO FORGIVE YOU! Do you think there is any sin HE CANNOT FORGIVE? If you think that you have no idea of His mercy or compassion. The guilt can be released. You need to let it go because it only tears you down. You need to be built up. You need to know that Christ longs to forgive you.

Stop looking at psychic and paranormal. That is not where you should be looking. Open the bible and find the consolation. Look in the holy inspired word of God and seek your relationship. He longs to bring you back to Himself.

Don't look back---its in the past---don't look forward----it is the future----look to today---it is the present---a true gift from God.

God Bless you and keep you and make His face to shine upon you and give you peace.

Soul or so you will is returned back to heaven when the body is done with it here. We all came from heaven for this roller coaster ride. Sorry you had such a bad ordeal. Just do things right now. You will be ok and we all will do better since you now know that you did wrongly or have this guilt. Just attempt to treat those who do things the right way with extreme respect, that way society will value that righteousness and people like you wont have to be so alone when they are faced with those apparent choices.

Please visit http://www.healinghearts.org as soon as possible. You can sign up for a free, Bible-based, online post-abortion study. It is EXCELLENT. You will be paired with an email counselor. Just about all the counselors at Healing Hearts have aborted babies themselves and are now Christians. They will be able to help you find your way back, as well as give you insight regarding your baby's spiritual status. I believe your child is in heaven, and I am sure they believe the same.

The fact that you feel guilt regarding your abortion shows that you have a conscience. Rejoice that your heart has not been hardened like some of the women here! I believe that Christ is drawing you back to Himself. I talked to a woman a couple months ago outside an abortion clinic. She was weeping for the baby that she had aborted years ago, and she said she never even really thought about it until she came to Christ. Then, He showed her the truth about what she had done. He is healing her.

Paranormal things are real and powerful, but the power comes from Satan. Please renounce all of that, and come to Christ for mercy and forgiveness. You will find Him faithful. Jesus said, "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." (John 10:9-10) I believe that the Healing Hearts counseling also touches on things like occult involvement. Please give it a try. I am very confident that it will help you!

One more thing, in regards to the post above: comparing abortion to miscarriage is like comparing being shot in the head to dying in your sleep. One is natural and no one's fault, and one is deliberate killing. I am sure that you see the difference. I don't say this to cause you more pain, but only because I know that you will not find peace until you face this head-on. God bless you, hon. Please feel free to contact me anytime.
