Lol...no, I don't have plans to move to Haiti. I have a student who just moved here from Haiti. She doesn't speak much English, and I'm just trying to learn more about her country and possible school experiences. Since I don't speak creole, I can't get a lot of information from her.

My husband is Haitian and has said that unless you attend a private school which is costly the education is very poor. English is part of the private schools education and they start their students at 4 years old. Public schools are much less desirable due to the funding.

It depends, some schools are very good. At the elementary level, the private and confessional schools are the best.

The classes are supposed to be taught in French (except for the Creole class) but in many schools, much of the teaching is done in Creole so usually the children don't learn too much French. Besides that, they do the usual, reading, writing (in French and Creole), grammar, orthography, stylistics (etc...) history, geography, math, natural/experimental sciences, hygiene etc...... the programme depends on the school some offer more some offer less

Haitian children usually do well in American schools even with little effort because they are used to much more effort in the Haitian school system. I know countless children who had difficulties passing from one class to another while in Haiti and when they moved to the US the suddenly become high achievers... of course many don't go to the best schools in the US since they don't live in the best neighborhoods.

Most of the schools are very bad.
For people who have money ,
There is the Union School( The American School), the level is disappointing
The Best school is the French School, it's has the French program.

I not sure but I would guess that they would have less money to fund them with. Therefore, maybe in inadequate school buildings, teaching resources and lower academic standards in general.
