I have met several Christians, who said that they tolerated those of other faiths, But in the end they still preached about Jesus to people they knew did not believe in Christianity. Then, there are those who just plain out think people are bad for being Wiccan, Pagan, or Atheist. I do believe that MOST Christains do not understand the ways of Wiccan Worship, and that is why they think Wicca is bad. But, If a Christain says, Wicca is Bad, and they don't know about it, and refuse to learn about it, How can they be tolerant of those who have different beliefs than Christianity?

I do know they don't have to agree, but I just want to know if they can be tolerant without being some sort of evangilist. I am very tired of hearing about "god" and what he died for. I just want to know that there are Christains out there, that are tolerant, but don't preach to people who don't want to hear it.

And why do Christains believe that Wicca is Satanic when Wiccans don't even believe in a devil, or the Christain's "Satan"?

Merry Meet,

I used to be a Christian, and no they do NOT teach religious tolerance, as a whole. The Christian church teaches that ANY other religion or worship of ANY other God, besides the one in the Bible, is basically a Satanic deception.

Furthermore, if one proclaims to believe in the God of the Bible, without buying into Jesus (such as the Jews), this ALSO is a Satanic deception.

The Unitarian/Universalist Church is probably the only exception I have run across. They are primarily "Christian", but they tolerate and ACCEPT WHOLEHEARTEDLY anyone in their congregation that believes in ANY God/dess, without trying to "convert".

-A Wiccan and ex-Christian.

Tolerance does not mean "don't share." We tolerate other religions, because we believe that people, no matter how deceived, have the right to worship according to their conscience.

Nevertheless, Christians have a higher calling. We have been ordered, commanded, and encouraged in this: "Therefore, as you go, disciple all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you each and every day until the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20)

Tolerance does not mean for us to embrace other religions. The definition (not the politically correct version) is:

1. To allow without prohibiting or opposing; permit.
2. To recognize and respect (the rights, beliefs, or practices of others).
3. To put up with; endure.

We can respect, endure, allow and recognize without embracing another religion. If all other religions are ways to get to God, then Jesus Christ died for nothing.

If all roads do not lead to Wichita, KS, then all roads cannot lead to God. And even if someone is on the right road, but heading in the wrong direction, they aren't going to get to their destination either.

I am tolerant in the sense that I am not going to kill you or persecute you for your beliefs (even though many Christians today are being persecuted and killed for their beliefs). My country, which by the way was founded by mostly Christians, encourages religious freedom, and so do I.

I am intolerant in the sense that I don't believe that all beliefs are equal and it doesn't matter what you believe. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me." If you have a problem with that, take it up with him.
If you want to be a Wiccan that's certainly your prerogative, but I'm not going to tell you that you can get to heaven by following the Wiccan way.

You may simply have a different definition of tolerance than they do. Remember that historically, a christian would have burned a wiccan at the stake as a witch. Even further back than that, pagans burned Christians on crosses. As things go, we've come a long way if our major disagreements are only spoken.

Tolerance doesn't mean that you condone other religions, but rather that you treat other people with respect. If Christians believed that all religions were right, that would defeat the whole purpose of their religion, which is helping others acheive salvation. There would be no point to joining any religion, not just Christianity, if you didn't believe it was the right religion.

Muslims seem the main illiberal; their holy books tells them they might desire to transform, kill, or enslave all infidels. yet specially it relatively is purely that folk in maximum cases lack tolerance for people who're diverse. It does not have lots to do with the assumption device itself, as a results of fact the persons who stick to that concept device. some concept platforms are going to entice extra illiberal persons, like Church of Christ, which teaches that all and sundry different denominations of Christianity are going to Hell, yet even there you will get a mix. And specific, we would desire to continuously attempt for religious tolerance. The minute we initiate portray all and sundry of a undeniable faith with a similar brush is the minute we stop being open-minded to something they might desire to declare. And as quickly as we close our minds to new innovations, we close ourselves off from progression.

100% No. It's proven all the time by them trying to "recruit" other people into their religion. For most strong christians, it's their way or the highway.

10 or 12 sects of Christianity
