I never went to preschool and didn't send my daughter either. I worked with her at home and by the time she started kindergarten she knew her numbers ,abc's ,shapes, how to writer her name, etc. She's almost 13 now and makes a,b honor roll almost every six weeks. I have a son almost 3 and I won't send him to preschool either. I feel like kids spend so much of their life in school as it is. I've known other people who have sent their children to preschool and they don't seem to do any better in school than the children that don't go. Too many parents leave it up to the teachers to teach the kids all the basics rather than helping their kids themselves.

I didn't go to preschool myself. However both of my kids did and i will tell you social skills are well formed before they go to school. In the daycare i work at we have a preschool program there. Before they go to school they all know how to write their name and can recognize letters and numbers i think it's great!!
We have a German teacher that teaches the 2 to 3 year old room and they know how to count to 10 in German and in Spanish if that tells you what a child can learn your good to go :) That kind of stuff stays for you a lifetime

I went to preschool and i think its help because you learn, and you are also use to following directions by the time you start school

yup!! I did go to preschool... I missed all the funs that we had!! In preschool you'll just get along with your classmates and teachers. They will teach you how to count, draw, speak, listen. Otherwise if you're kinda bad.. They will punish you to squat.. and it hurts so much.. but still.. it's fun to be a preschooler!!!

I went to two different preschools, b/c we moved and I had to wait another year for kindergarten. Been the head of my classes ever since, so maybe there is something to it...

Of course it is benefit...not only for spelling or colors they know..early expriences are great effect for your brain and emotional way...many experiences are good for children as early as they have. also preschool teach many basic attitudes and learn social relationship with other kids...that you can not provide at home. If you didn't eat some food that wasn't exsit in your childhood, so you don't provide new food to your child?
