Think getting your barrel threaded will run about $100 for labor, plus another $50+ for a muzzle break. Getting a permit for a suppressor takes about 2+ months plus a $200 stamp tax fee just for owning it, then then the several hundred to couple grand for the suppressor itself. In the People's republic of Commiefornia any firearm with a muzzle break is considered an "evil weapon" and wont be legal there. Most of the other states will allow muzzle breaks. Adding a muzzle break for reducing recoil is a personal choice and it works. Think they reduce between 10-30% recoil and adding a $50 limb saver will reduce it another 20%. Also the nice thing is the .30-06 has the largest selection of ammo weight out there from the lowest at 125 (Remington Core-lokt) through 220 grain. So going to a lower grain bullet will help out too. Just experiment with different bullet grains and adding a recoil pad to see how it is for you. And if you want a muzzle break go for it.
