In its current form, the Bible is at best, a very huge complex badly worded confusing instruction book for selected religious believers and followers to use as their moral code and guidance throughout their life, in order to become a better person, with a view to going to Heaven.
My personal view of the Bible is that it’s the biggest load of garbage and codswallop ever written by man, and I’m sure it will go down in history as the greatest load of gobbledygook ever to inflict such traumatic mental and physical damage on humanity.
The Bible has already been modified several times, so why don’t religious people just strip out all the evil, murders, rapes, abuse, and traumatic references? Why not rewrite the book properly using commonsense and logic, keeping only some non-confusing non-violent more honest references for people to follow?
Here’s a start for you – The Good Bible.
We don’t know if God exists, but here’s a few steps to follow to behave in a decent manner.

You are right on all counts. Each translation of the "good book" has had an agenda of someone, somewhere, sometime. Translations are built on translations upon translations...each more and more conveniently fitting the whatever churches goals that month..usually having something seriously to do with money if you take it apart and reconstruct. IN effect, the Christian churches prey on man's most basic fear, the fear of death. For money, you can buy life everlasting! For money, you can buy forgiveness for your "sins" which are many. It is a wonder to me that people fall for this preposterous stuff, over and over, shelling out all their available money to a minister somewhere. But, they get SAVED while the minister saves at Bank of America. Good luck

Actually, Thomas Jefferson edited the bible by keeping all the parts that were relevant to good moral behavior and removing the parts that were just religious dogma. It's called the Jeffersonian Bible. Needless to say, Jefferson's edit Bible was a lot smaller than the original!
Also, the bible actually is being slowly rewritten today... it's called the New International Version. They even changed one of the 10 cammandments just to suit their own purposes! From "Thou Shalt Not Kill" to "Thou Shalt Not Murder". Now they are free to support the death penalty!

Where did you get the idea that the reason people read the Bible is just for moral guidance and with the aim of going to heaven? People who live according to law invariably do so because they wish to avoid punishment, and the Bible has the same thing to say to both them and those whose aim is 'to go to heaven':
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments (Matthew 22:37-40).
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out all fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love (1 John 4:18).
Love... is not self-seeking (1 Corinthians 13:3-4).
For some of us, the main attraction is really God Himself, not moral guidance, or avoiding hell, or attaining heaven. I think that's a really good way to start one's spiritual life, and I really enjoy living this way.
May God bless you and keep you

The Bible isn't supposed to be taken too literally. Its to teach us. Just like learning from our mistakes, the bad stuff counts. Rewriting the Bible won't do any good because its not the same.

Many Christians now are learning to read the original text which is far better than a re-write

Modern Christianity is a reflection of society, not of the original religion. It exists only to maintain the social infastructure, and provide psychological painkillers to the masses. Nietzsche was right, God is dead.

People need to Reread the Bible. Not Rewrite it. The KJV Bible is the true inspired word of God. I know my Lord does exist. He is the one who saved me, and Blesses me, and supplies my needs.
