Well..... Can't say that I've ever had my feelings hurt by a student so bad that I shed tears, but I have left school feeling like crap. What I think people forget is that both teachers and students are HUMAN. The teacher may or may not wish to admit it, and students are trained not to see teachers as human, but sadly we all are. So is it possible to make a teacher cry? Well, yeah, of course.... people are people. Students' words toward the teacher.... good or bad.... just like a teachers words toward the students sometimes hit hard.... even if not intended to.

What do I like about teaching...?? That's easy. When a former student comes up to me in Wal-Mart two years after he/she graduates and says.. "Hey remember what you said when I was in your class........."

Well, sorry to not follow your description, but I, a student, have witnessed a teacher crying right in front of the whole class. She was very sensitive and the girl who said it phrased it in the wrong way. So, the teacher left the class and everyone was laughing, but I thought it was quite sad that students could be so rude-- even very smart ones. My chem. teacher said that the part he likes about teaching is seeing the student he taught graduating in front of his eyes and him feeling that he made a difference in the world. I guess some teachers do it just for their happiness to be with children and "embrace" their subject.

None. That's why I'm going back to school to change careers. Teachers nowadays get NO RESPECT, and they constantly need to deal with 3 levels of people: the admin, the students and the parents. The parents are the worse, because they blame you if their children don't turn out right. They can't understand that teachers are only there to teach, not to raise their kids.

cry? you've got to be kidding! lol smack the crap out of a few is more like it.

for the ones that have parents that care enough to discipline and instill a healthy respect for their elders - it's a joy to teach. the others make it a pain in my ***. teachers are there to teach, not spend valuable time raising up someone elses child. that's THE PARENTS responsibility. and to have to deal with some elses unruly, disobient brat while the rest of the class sits patiently waiting to learn is unfair the them.
