Frontline Plus definately. My dog got fleas so my veterenarian suggested Frontline Plus. You use it once a month and it kills fleas, flea eggs, ticks, mosquitos, etc. All you do is put one of the dropper things in between the shoulderblades (so your dog can't lick it off) and it'll work instantly. It's a little pricey, but it's not too bad. It's about $39.99 for 3 droppers. You can get it at the vet's office or at certain pet supplies stores. It works great!

Shave the areas where the skin is inflamed. This will allow those areas to get air and heal faster and without as much irritation. If you already used a flea and tick killer chances are the eggs from the fleas have hatched and that is why the dog has more. You have to get a spray to use in the carpet and on the furniture, etc. This spray will kill the fleas in the home so that once you kill them on the dog, they won't just jump from the carpet back onto your dog. Advantage, and Front-line are both effective products for flea removal. If you are low on cash, try purchasing the in home spray for the carpets, furniture etc. Wash anything else you can, dog blankets, toys etc. in hot water. Then purchase some Head N Shoulders shampoo. Something in the shampoo paralyzes the fleas and you will be able to pick the fleas off the dog no problem. There is still the problem with the eggs, but that should help significantly. At least until you have more cash to get the proper flea treatments from the vet. Good Luck :)

Frontline or anything else from the vet. The stuff from the pet shop is a waste of time and money.
Fleas don't live on your pet, they only jump on to feed. Hoover through the house every day and empty the bag each time. Wash his bedding once a week. Don't use a wiker dogbed, get a wipe clean plastic one.
You can get sticky flea traps for the house, they are a warm pad with sticky tape and the fleas get stuck.
Remember if you bathe your dog you must comb out all the loose hair and tangles first, or they will matt up as you bathe and dry him. Use a tangle free childrens shampoo and rinse him thoroughly. Ordinary shanpoo kills fleas.

Your Yorkie has a severe reaction to Flea-bites.Only the Vet. will be able to reduce this immediately, by giving anti-inflammatory drugs.
You must try to reduce the chance of him being bitten again. As fleas spend more time in the environment than on the dog,it is important to treat the carpets and bedding,-in fact anywhere the dog goes.Use Environmental spray ,preferably one which contains a growth inhibitor(kills flea eggs and lavae)
Treat the dog with "Frontline" spray, from the Vet. I recommend a spray, rather than the "spot-on" as fleas have to bite the dog to reach the insecticide in the blood-stream, and it is the flea-saliva that starts the skin allergy in the dog, so you need to reduce the amount of flea-bites.
Lastly as an instant FLEA KILLER, use "JOHNSON'S 4FLEAS" tablets. They are sold in pet shops, and definitely work. They start killing within 20 minutes, they are safe to use with the other products. (Do not use more than one insecticide at a time, as you will overdose)
As fleas are the intermediate host to the "Tape Worm" remember to worm the dog too.

I wouldn't shave him it will just cause more irritation. This is just a guess but when you dipped your dog for fleas it probably killed the fleas and not the eggs. The eggs hatch every two weeks.I would give your dog a small break from the dip if you just did it.If you did it two weeks ago than I would do it again.I would take the dog to the vet first thing Monday.while your waiting to take your dog in you can use benedryl. My dogs 45 pnds and he can have up to 25Mg's twice a day so since your dog is smaller youll have to figure out a dosage that should help with the allergic reaction and patches and itching. The benydrle is fine but you have to make sure its the one that only has diphenhydramine only in .it its normally children's.Call your vet tommaro for a dosage amount .Make sure you get your dog checked the vet can also give you some stuff to get rid of the fleas good luck

Front line spot on from the vet
I don't have a dog but have a cat. But you can get Frontline spot on for cats and a different one for dogs I imagine the dog one works the same way as the cat one.
You put it on the neck and it goes into the blood stream and kills the flea's and ticks.
I use the cat one on my cat and it works the best from all the other things I have tried.
It makes any fleas that jump on the animal infertile as well so it gets rid of the fleas in the house. I vac every day after doing the spot on treatment for about a week and it seems to work.
Hope this helps. :-)

Some dogs show sever allergic reaction toward some of the Flea & Tick medication. Believe me, I have seen it, when my dog was close to leaving this world.
Take your dog to vet immediately and if your vet has a cennel leav him there for observation for a couple of days. This gives you time to clean your house from fleas. This is very iomportant, since you don't want your dog to get the fleas all over again, not to talk about the family members leaving in your house.
Good Luck!

Go to your vet and buy a flea product for dogs. Or if your animal shelter sells it you could get it cheaper there. Frontline is a good one. It is a liquid that is placed on the skin on the back of the neck, and on the back, and by the tail. Don't buy flea products at the store. They are a waste of money. They don't work and some of them are dangerous.

K9 Advantix is very good for fleas and ticks. You use it once a month. For your yorkie's inflamed patches, however, you should take him to the vet. He may have developed an allergy to fleas and need to be treated.
