A new study shows that plain old chocolate milk may be as good -- or better -- than sports drinks like Gatorade at helping athletes recover from strenuous exercise.
The study, published in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism, was small in scale; it was partially funded by the dairy industry. But dietitians say the study should help to counter the notion that high-tech, expensive supplements are better than whole foods when it comes to athletic performance.
In the study, nine male cyclists rode until their muscles were depleted of energy, then rested four hours and biked again until exhaustion. During the rest period, the cyclists drank low-fat chocolate milk, Gatorade, or Endurox R4. During a second round of exercise, the cyclists who drank the chocolate milk were able to bike about 50% longer than those who drank Endurox, and about as long as those who drank the Gatorade.
The findings suggest that chocolate milk has an optimal ratio of carbohydrates to protein to help refuel tired muscles, researcher Joel M. Stager, PhD, Indiana University kinesiology professor, tells WebMD.
But the most puzzling result of the study, experts say, was why Endurox -- which has the same carb-to-protein ratio as the chocolate milk -- fared so poorly. Researcher Jeanne D. Johnston, MA, tells WebMD it may have to do with the different composition of the sugars in the milk. Another theory is that the sugars in the milk may be better absorbed in the gut than those in the Endurox.
P.S. But why chocolate milk instead of plain milk? Because it contains more carbohydrates.
"The latest research shows athletes ideally need a carbohydrates-to-protein ratio of 3-to-1 or 4-to-1," he said. Chocolate milk has that ratio; unflavored milk doesn't.

Chocolate is not all bad. It has some nutritional value, in moderation. Dark chocolate is better than milk chocolate, obviously.
Actually chocolate milk may have more calcium, in some instances, than regular milk. The reason is that several manufacturers fortify the chocolate milk. If you're trying not to gain weight, keep it to a minimum, or drink light chocolate soy milk for addes protein. The additional sugar and calories are obviously higher than with regular, skim milk. Some places even sell 1% chocolate milk, though. You just have to look for it.

I love chocolate milk! It does taste a lot better than plain milk. I just use the plain milk in other foods but to drink straight, I will do the chocolate.
I'm not an expert but I don't really think that the chocolate cancels out the nutrition of the milk. It's just added flavor.
In my opinion, people are always saying what's good and then turn around and say that it is bad. I say just do the regular food groups and if you want to enhance the flavor of them, it's your choice. Live happy.

How about trying Chocolate Soy milk by Silk. It has less sugar than regular chocolate milk. ALSO Silk has Vanilla Soy Milk that doesn't have that funky after taste (i know, i stopped drinking milk for that reason) good luck!!! Oh and also soy milk doesnt have any hormones....

WELL I THINK THAT CHOCOLATE MILK IS MUCH BETTER. YOUR RIGHT THAT REGULAR MILK LEAVES A BAD TASTE IN YOUR MOUTH. YOU SHOULD DRINK AT LEAST ONE GLASS OF REGULAR MILK A DAY.

Eat/drink milk,pulses,beet root,fruits salad or juice,veg salad or soup,
Discontinue Liquor,Non Veg,Chillies,Sour,Cold drinks,Heavy undigestible food.smoking
sometimes fasting is also important
