I got mixed feelings because I heard that it's dangerous, & then I also heard that it's safe.

new york city is as safe as anyplace else. there is no safe place to live today. anyplace you live you have to keep your doors locked. and windows locked. I lived in the bronx and brooklyn for years, now live in ga. living in new york the rents are very high but the food is great. no place like new york pizza and chinese food

It is soooo safe. Yes, you do hear of things 'cause there are si naby millions of people. It is officially the safest large City in the US. There are places that may look not that good to you, but are still safe. SOme people live it, some don't

About as safe as any other metropolitan city. There are good neighborhoods and bad.
The problem is that it is a big city, and you can easily get lost and find yourself in a bad situation.
As long as you are street smart, you'll be fine.
