He's stressed because of the change in his living arrangements. You need to show him what he did wrong and tell him he's a bad dog and then immediately take him outside. It's not his diet that's causing the problem it's his nerves. One question, do you spend time with him outdoors? It may make a difference to him. Try it for a couple of days. When you notice him doing his thing outside praise him for being a good dog. He may need a refresher course in house ettiquite.

establish a routine for going out to go potty...same time every day. Take him out for only 2 minutes then back in the house. Potty time is not play time. He's not out there to chase squirrels or track a scent (like mine does).

Be patient too. You haven't had him a month and it will probably take a lot longer to adjust to his new environment, food, your schedule, his schedule etc.

ask yourself if anything has changed in the last 2 days that may have thrown him off. Keep an eye on him when he comes in the house. you'll be able to tell when hes about to potty. you can pick him up and carry him outside (the surprise will make him stop in his tracks) or make a rattle with coins in a jar and rattle it to startle him. then pick him up and take him outside.
make sure you praisehim when he does potty outside. give him a treat when you come back in the house.

remember, they're a very intelligent breed. invest in some obedience classes too. it will really help. training is like a language and the more he understands what you want, the better and happier you both will be.
good luck.

Our 18 month old Pembroke still occassionally has accidents in the house - usually in the middle of the night if I don't get up for him.

Corgis are energetic, fun loving dogs. And he expects you to be fun too. Play alot with him, inside as well. You'll find that he'll start to vocalize to you, just like he is talking. It's cute but be warned - sometimes he'll do it after a scolding, just ilke a kid talking back to the parent.
Definitely crate train him, but I don't recommend a 4 hr session in a crate. Corgis have a reputation fo being "nippers" - they're herding dogs so it's just their attitude - definitely take the upper hand with the biting/nipping reflex. (Your vet will thank you)
And thank you for rescuing a wonderful breed. Good luck...

He's young yet. It takes time and patience to train him.

Keep him in a crate or a tightly controlled area. Take him out every 3 or 4 hours to do his business, whether he needs to or not, clean up his area only after a walk.

At first he will make "mistakes" in his area, but will have to live with it. He will learn that if he waits, he doesn't have to live with it. He'll get it within a few weeks. Then gradually let him out for increasing amounts of play time, but keep the walk schedule going. Eventually, he will start "asking" to go out or go out on his own.

Good Luck!
