I Teach in a low income community because one they have more positions open but also because in low income poverty areas the kids are often mistreated, neglected, or abused and I can't think of anyone else who needs me more and when you see a struggling child succeed it is very rewarding.

Your question is a litte vague. Do you mean to imply that teaching in a low income community is less desirable than a high income one? Its probably generally true given that the pay is apt to be more in a high income community. Still it could be
that the low income community is the only one where a job is
available or the type of job a person seeks is available or it could be convenient to a person's home, therefore they accept a job or they simply enjoy the area. For example a number or rural areas would be considered to be low income but a person might enjoy living in a rural area to be away from the city with its high crime rate, urban sprawl, high cost of living etc and take advantage of all the country has to offer.

It depends on the teacher. I do it because I work better with those students. I have worked in very rich schools and I could not relate to those students. Each teacher needs to find what works for them and where they serve the kids best.
