take the tips of your hair (or whatever is dry) and while watching tv or whatever, rub the ends on your hair on top of your head where its oily, and that should help a little bit...aussie hair products are really great for your hair, too

Several things you can do.
Try CWC. Condition-wash-condition. Get your hair wet, apply conditioner to your hair from the ears, down, avoiding the scalp. Shampoo the scalp. The conditioner will protect your dry ends and length from too much shampoo, which is likely doesn't need, anyway. Rinse. Apply condition, gently comb with a seamless, wide tooth shower comb, leave on as long as your shower lasts, rinse. Apply a good leave-in. Air dry.
Conditioning is key, as is avoiding heat. Stay away from blow dryers, curling irons, hot rollers and flat irons, they just make your hair dryer and cause it to break and split, too.
You could also try pre wash oiling. Use a light oil like jojoba or coconut. (You can find them at your local whole foods store.) Apply until hair is saturated but not dripping, braid or put in a cap and sleep on it. Or apply at least an hour before you wash. Wash and condition well.
After wash oiling also helps. A couple of drops in the palm of your hand, rub your hands together and work it into the ends and length, only. This will help lock in moisture and help soften your hair. and if done right, won't make your hair oily or greasy. I HTH.

I have that problem too. I have found this wonderful shampoo and conditioner from Aussie. It's for just that. It fixes your oily top and moisturises your dry ends. Called Aussie Duel Personality Root Clenser and Tip Mender. Good luck.
