The war outcome put the Israeli military school under many questions. The Israeli war is based on terrorizing the population 1st and then go for the kill. The Americans did apply that in Iraq too and did not work this why the metion never was accomplished . Israeli wars is based on the capability to strike 1st from the air. In 73 war Israel was not able to strike 1st and almost lost the war. Israeli now know peace is the only way out for them military power alone will not do it anymore.

Commandos is the wrong word. Hezbollah is made up of irregular fighters much like the insurgents in Iraq, the Viet Cong, or Partisans from the Second World War Era.
These bozos live and hide in civilian urban areas, which makes them extremely difficult to bring under fire without heavy collateral civilian casualties, which of course were an unfortunate reality.
Ideally, the Israelis should have utilized very specialized hunter/killer teams to infilitrate into Hezbollah held areas, set up sniper posts, etc. and systematically eliminate these dudes. I imagine that will be round two in this conflict.

Israel depended more on air forces in this war in the first 2 weeks which only lead to civilian destruction. Then on ground they were fighting ghosts.. I mean that Hezbullah troops were waiting for the Israeli troops and got ready for them with suitable weapons and training while the Israeli didn't no the locations or hiding places for those fighters due to their intelligence failure.
Beside that Hezbullah troops were fighting more likely like gang wars not regular army wars. While the heavy slowly moving Israeli tanks exposed to Hezbullah rockets which Israel didn't know exactly where they were launched from.
Hezbullah made a new tactic in this war is to make the enemy enter the village "Maroon El Ras and Bent-Jubail for example" then put the enemy under siege......That is beside the tunnels where made under the ground and in the mountains to protect them from Israeli bombing.
Israel underestimated its enemy this time and this is why they didn't when the war in battlefield.

The problem with a Hezzbollah body count is that all of them are civilians so it looks as if Israel was just killing innocent people.
