I suspect that if he existed he was a teacher and a philosipher who gathered a small following and preached wherever he went. I think that his followers badly wanted him to be the Messiah. I think that the stories about him became wilder and wilder with each retelling until within the space of a generation or two he seemed to fill the shoes of the jewish Messiah...never mind that he did not fulfill the criteria of the Jewish Messiah. I think that his rapidly expanded cult of followers added to his story after his execution for being politically inconvienent, and that in the centuries since even more confabulation and exaggeration have been added when it was convienent for political or economic gains.

I seriously doubt that nearly anything that Jesus may have actually said is anywhere near its original form. See http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060738170/sr=8-1/qid=1155943621/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-0889458-2149410?ie=UTF8 for more.

It is not an "opinion" but a very real belief that He is the Son of God and that He paid the price for everyone's sins by dying on the cross. It is a personal thing. I don't beat people over the head with it. That is just rude and usually results in making the person run away from Christianity rather than to it. Big mistake to do that. He is called a Savior.

I believe Jesus was one of the most righteous men to have ever lived. During the time that Rome was opressing the known world, raping women, murdering children, crucifying all who opposed, Jesus came with the message of love, peace, and humility. I believe he did more for the world than any other human being in the world, albeit very, very unfortunate that the Crusades were waged in Jesus' name. I believe he wasn't God, nor his son, just a great, great man.

I believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah. He will return as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He bridges the gap between Man and God. He is the only path to redemption by which one must confess Him with the tongue as Lord in their life and believe God raised Him from the dead. When He returns the second time nobody is going to beat Him. Jesus will be doing the butt kicking!

It's a fact that if he existed at all and wasn't an amalgam of various myths then he was only a man like you or me, he looked nothing like the Jesus icon everyone has come to know and based on his actions i can say he was very passionate, very open minded, and very very very crazy.

One more thing... If he were around today and saw what people were doing and saying in his name... he'd throw another passover fit. Most of the "true Christians" would most likely write him off as a liberal hippie, possibly even a terrorist.

John 1:1-3 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
