Because you can't do anything about the shade of your skin or your race (Michael Jackson notwithstanding).
However, you can choose to keep your religion quiet or not. Pushing your religion and its tenets on someone who doesn't want to listen and probably has their mind made up already - offends them.
Quick test - what are the religious beliefs of the following people - Katie Couric, JonBenet Ramsey, Tom Cruise? All are in the news; one you can probably identify by his religion (Tom, NOT Christian!) because he has been very obnoxious in the last few years for pushing his religion - even though, unlike the Dalai Lama or the Pope, he's not someone who's life I would hold up as a shining example of how good his religion is.
Most people don't hate religions, they hate people who play the role of modern-day pharisee.

Racism is politically incorrect. They will lose votes. On the other hand, intolerance of Christianity is acceptable because of the separation of church and state. Not even a court house where you place your hand on the Bible is allowed to have anything religious in it. Wierd or what? Because of this separation, it has grown into some sort of wierd Christianity bashing because to do so is politically correct and, as a politician, to say you are a Christian is to not be politically correct because it links church and state.

I think you confuse criticism with intolerance. And in fact, I think you are confusing criticism of certain behaviors of christians with critcism of Christianity.
I am agnostic with atheistic leanings. I think this country has gone down a bad path the last 10+ years due to Christians aligning themselves with the Republican party, and supporting a corrupt president just because he claims he is Christian. I am speaking up against this, which means I have to speak up against the behavior of some Christians.
However, I know Christians that I respect and admire, and who agree with me that Bush is not following the teachings of Christ. I don't criticize these Christians, and I don't criticize Christianity in general.

Because people of different races don't try to change the laws to make everyone like them. But for some reason some militant Christians in the US these days feel they have the right & obligation to change long established laws.

Because, among the liberals, pseudo-intellectuals, and assorted political correctness police, intolerance of Christianity has become the chic thing to do. They are hypocrites who don't realize is that they have become bigots.

And why any beliefs are allowed except for the truth (Christianity) in the public school. Deep down everyone knows the truth, they just try to talk themselves out of it so that they dont have to live under God.

its not really accpetable. you're allowed to casually mock it, (in a fun way) in order to annoy some christians, but actual hate is not acceptable. Thats naughty.
