Comprehensive coverage is for damages other than collision. A hit and run would definitely be considered a collision. Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage would pay for this type of claim; collision would as well but collision coverage usually comes with deductibles of at least $500.00. I agree with the other poster who said to obtain a police report since your insurance company will need it for documentation. Good luck!

NO: Comprehensive is for non-collision damage (if a tree falls on your car, etc. -- the most common comprehensive claim - is broken windshields).

Your insurance against uninsured motorists; or your collision insurance would cover the hit and run -- (BUT don't forget to file a Police Report, or you may get nothing from the insurance company).

If the other motorist is caught later his/her liability insurance will cover your damages.

FOR FUTURE REFERENCE:
COMPREHENSIVE is for non-collision accidents and vandalism.
COLLISION is for damage to your car in an accident
LIABILITY is for damage you cause to someone else's property.

No, it won't. Collision if you have it (it is possible to only carry comp and not collision) will pay.Comprehensive is for non-collision losses (vandalism, theft, fire, flood, hitting an animal, etc.). Some states do not offer Uninsured Motorist coverage for property damage (like PA for example to just name one). And if it does, there is probably still a deductible that's set by the state. Check with your insurance company to be sure.

No. Comprehensive only covers the damage you do to others. If you want to be protected from hit and run, you need to have collision coverage.

I dunno...My father and mom are farmers which have labored not user-friendly all their existence. I purely shop in concepts them having ever taken one vacation of their entire lives. they are responsible, financially and othewise. They pay their costs on time and function a thoroughly sparkling record. My mom hasn't ever even had a speeding fee ticket. even if, like maximum farmers being self employed they by no ability were waiting to have the funds for health coverage. very last 12 months even as they stumbled on a tumor on my mom's pancreas the size of a delicate ball we were instructed that the checks she mandatory were going to run $2 hundred,000. did you recognize what she stated? My mom stated I refuse to go away you adult men $2 hundred,000 in debt so i guess i am going to die. properly, that wasn't comfortable with us so we were given health coverage for her at $800 a month with a 6 month waiting era and a $5000 each and every year deductible. it truly is the purely coverage shall we get for her. So after we pay the 5K, the coverage will conceal 80% of the prices of any medical treatment so the perfect bill is $40 5,000 instead of $2 hundred,000. it truly is an effective deal good? purely $40 5,000. So now instead of dropping their farm, my father and mom will only lose each and every little thing that they have got managed to shop over the technique 2 a lengthy time period. i'm sorry in case you do not agree, yet I refuse to imagine that it really is how this united states ought to run. i do not imagine that those which have carried out the right element their entire existence should be in this position. in case you disagree then attempt residing in my shoes for a short even as and see in case you nevertheless experience the secure way. you may want to, yet I doubt it.

In the UK, yes.

In the US you need collision coverage or uninsured motorist coverage. If you have UIM, it won't affect your rates.
