. Yet slavery is rampant throughout the Bible in both the Old and New Testaments. The Bible clearly approves of slavery in many passages, and it goes so far as to tell how to obtain slaves, how hard you can beat them, and when you can have sex with the female slaves.

However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)

If you buy a Hebrew slave, he is to serve for only six years. Set him free in the seventh year, and he will owe you nothing for his freedom. If he was single when he became your slave and then married afterward, only he will go free in the seventh year. But if he was married before he became a slave, then his wife will be freed with him. If his master gave him a wife while he was a slave, and they had sons or daughters, then the man will be free in the seventh year, but his wife and children will still belong to his master. But the slave may plainly declare, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children. I would rather not go free.' If he does this, his master must present him before God. Then his master must take him to the door and publicly pierce his ear with an awl. After that, the slave will belong to his master forever. (Exodus 21:2-6 NLT)

You know there are so many things in the bible of which I don't understand. What confuses me is the bible tells you "thou shalt not commit adultery". Well it also says that there was a guy that had a wife who could not bare children, so it says God told him to find a younger wife so she could have children for him. Now I understand that God said to find another wife so does that mean Polygamy is OK. You know I am not sure what to take of the bible, but the only thing I know is that I love God and Jesus with all my heart but there are still things that confuse me.

That was a different time and a different culture.
Slavery in some cases kept people from starvation.
They had to take care of the slaves, feed, clothe and medical care. House and in some cases exempted them from war.
they also sanctioned war. Having more than one wife and a lot of things that Jesus told them was morally wrong.
They divorced their older wives to get new ones.
He told them only on account of adultry can you get a divorce.
Wether it be a paradise earth or a heavenly abode can't we be thankful there will be no more marriage, sex, slaves, and child sacrifice. Many of the Isrealites was doing that to.
The earth was and is corrupt. when we go back thru time the earth will be filled by resurrected ones those slaves will have a chance to live eternally on earth as free people. Many slave owners who were kind and good, may come back to.
Those who weren't will not receive a resurrection.
Like the bible says: Matthew 5:4 happy are those who morn since they will be comforted. Happy are the meek they will inherit the earth. Happy are the merciful since they will be shown mercy. The oposite is also true. If they were not merciful they won't be shown mercy. Read those passages.
In the end it will be fair

there's no reason to write a three paragraph diatribe about slavery. Human bondage is arguably one of the oldest professions known to mankind. and as you said it's been going on since time out of mind and is still going on today in much of the world. you can't level a mountain with a straw in the course of a day and your not going to change the world with words!
