Together with your gf or bf before you became engaged?

We dated for 4 years and were engaged for 1 then had our wedding and have been married for 8 months.
We never wanted to be pressured even though family pressured all the time.
Marriage is a forever thing at least to us it is.
take the bf gf thing slow see where it takes you people tend to change as they get older and more muture, make sure she is the right one.
Then have a long engagement as well.
If you love her and she loves you whats the rush!!
Be sure and take it slow!!

Heh. Together for 8 years, engaged for 5 more, finally getting married next month (we started dating in 1993).
But I wouldn't use us as a standard for anything, for three reasons. 1) We had some trust issues to overcome at the beginning of the relationship; 2) He'd been married before and was gunshy about doing it again so I wasn't about to push; 3) After we got engaged we were out of work for like 18 months over the course of the next 3 years, so a wedding was an expense we just couldn't plan.
But he's worth the wait. And evidently he thinks I am, too...

My fiancee and I have been together for a year but we've been friends for 5. The main reason we are getting married is because we love each other but also because I'm pregnant with his baby and I want a great dad for my 10 year old son. When you put it all together we dated for a year and 6 months later...we're married!

My first marriage we were only together 8 months and married 7 years.
This time around: We met on the internet in Nov of 2004. We met in person in Feb of 2005. He moved in Sept of 2005 and we plan on getting married in April of 2008 in our back yard. Both of us are extremely happy! We are inseperable and have been since they day we met in person. We are truly best friends.
We are paying for the wedding ourselves and holding it in our backyard. We have given ourselves a year and a half to prepare the backyard and make it look like a park to save us money.

At three and a half years we got married ( I was almost 20) and now that I look back, way too young. We have both changed a lot in the past 8 years and so have our priorities.
