I don't believe the parents have much rights, much the same as if the parents were the ones being baked acted - their rights for opposing treatment is diminished. I suppose if the child was baker acted, there is a valid reason why and that child needs the help.. if there is not a valid reason - it can be petitioned.

I had to look that one up...for those that wont' take the time to see what it means...
A Baker Act is a means of providing individuals with emergency services and temporary detention for mental health evaluation and treatment when required, either on a voluntary or an involuntary basis.
I guessing it will be for 48 hours maximum and then the child can can go home. I found lots of links for it during my Yahoo search.

I've been Baker Acted twice, and as far as I'm aware, there's nothing the parent can do but wait until the 72 hours are up.

I am in the process of Raising a REVOLUTION as we speak(this is based on the hope that my communications got thru to the intended targets), and yes I do FEAR for my safety, but do not let this stop you from standing up for your rights, just be very careful the USA government(according to the "books") is very dangerous today, and there are people who are "brain-trained" in a sick way, who work for the gov't....
I believe THINGS are going to change ~ please understand VEGANISM for all that it is.
"forced mental institutions are not right" , if a person commits a crime well then we have to charge them with that CRIME...if someone is said to be an "invalid" and can not take care of themselves well I do believe if there was a PROPER GOVERNMENT HELPING HOUSE, well then not only the parent but the child in question would enter with GLEE, for a swift CURE/TREATMENT..... but first step here and now, I need YOU to understand veganism

1st who call, and who has sign the papers???
ones the government get involved there is not much that can be done! the person will stay usually 3 weeks intake, until he/she is stabilized.
the order has been sign by a Judge, so you will have to go thru the court system....
