Do you clean it before you sit down on the seat?

First try to find one with a dry seat, and that has been flushed. Yes, I do clean it first. Yes, they're safe, but only if you clean it first, just wipe the entire seat with paper. Use the paper seat cover, or double some toilet paper and put on each side of the seat. Oh, just remembered about an email from a friend advising to look under the seat first, in case of a spider or other insect. Yuk, some of the places I've seen are hard to believe. Oh, and open the door with your paper towel, hold the door with your foot, so you can toss the towel in the trash, or else just take it with you.

A public toilet is safe to use, but only if you put either toilet paper or a toilet seat cover on it before you sit down.

Depends on where u are.
anywhere in the city? no, unless ur in a fancy restaurant.
but others are fine
just remember to put atleast 1 layer of toilet paper around the seat

lol i always wait to get home. I'm totally paranoid about using public bathrooms after having gone to san francisco and we had parked in china town. There was a public bathroom and there was lets just say "poop" smeared all over toilets and on the floor and used "stuff" on the floor. yeah..... so if i cant hold it, i use those seat cover paper things just in case.

An apparently dry toilet seat is OK. Microorganisms need moisture to live and spread. If the seat is wet, move on.

The public toilet seat is probably safer then the door handle you will touch when you leave the rest room.

R U CRAZY? No, I wanna get in and get out as fast as humanly possible. Give me a break; come on now! I'd rather wait till I get home, but I open the door with my back, so I don't get germs all over myself and I flush the toilet with my foot if I can.

Only if I see some drops. I'll use those disposable paper seats of they are available. I have heard that the handle is the most unsanitary. Some actually flush with their foot.

Safe? Define "Safe"...
Do you mean, will a rat leap through the ring and attack your rump? Probably not...
If you sit down on a "wet" or otherwise icky seat, it's probably not as safe as you would LIKE...
However, If you use one of those paper doohickies each and every time you sit down, you'll probably not contract AIDS or some other unpleasant disease...

well i don't sit usually, although i was watching Tyra show that day and i heard that a desk at work has much more germs than there is on toilet seat!!!
