so like four years ago i had my hair bleached blond at a salon but the bleach wasnt working so the lady tried some thing that turned it all instantly gray. most of it grew back its regular color but its been four years and it is still really dry and super thin and it breaks really easily. anyone know of any super good hair repair treatment? needless to say im more than a little apprehensive about going back to a salon ever since that happened so a home remedy would be better.

I've had blonde highlites before, my hair is the typical asian black hair, so a lot of bleaching was necessary. It totally killed my hair too. Never gonna do that again.

Sounds like we have different hair type, so I don't know this this will work for you.

I use A LOT of conditioner. And I use heavy conditioner. I can get away with it because my hair is coarse and thick, if you have thin hair heavy conditioner will weigh it down and make it flat (not bad for your hair, just may not look good style-wise). Anyway use a lot of it, and comb it though with a wide tooth comb in the shower, that'll make sure conditioner coats your hair all over. Be careful not to pull on your hair, wet hair is weak and more prone to damage. Comb downwards your hair near the end first, maybe just a couple of inches, then comb downward from a bit higher, then higher...etc. That'll make sure you won't scoot all the tangles together into a pile. If you do get tangles, squirt some more conditioner on that spot and work it out with your fingers. If a patch of your hair feels like it's not slick with conditioner, add some more to it.

And after you're done, don't blow dry your hair. Towel dry it somewhat, and then just let it air dry.

That's usually enough for me, but you can try putting on leave-in conditioner afterwards. You can try those hot oil treatments too, but my believe is that it comes from consistent daily care more than once in a while super treatment.

Right now I use Herbal Essence's Mandrin Balm or something, orange bottle. The leave-in conditioner my sister gave me I can't remember the name, but you'll have to find what works for you.

And... diet is important too. Quality of you hair is genetics + diet + how you take care of it. I believe healthy & high protein diet is good for your hair (you should research and verify). I'm eating healthy and chugging protein shakes anyway because I'm trying to put on 10 more pounds of muscles, I'm guessing that's helping my hair too. Health store also have supplements that are supposedly good for hair, but I've never used those. Oh yeah, I'm a guy, but my hair goes down to my butt so I have to take care of it, otherwise it'll look like crap and I might as well cut it.

Well I am a person who is familiar with damaged. I have this system for fixing damaged hair I do it once a month and my hair has never looked this great.
1.) First I get Alberto V05 Hot Oil and apply it to my hair and then I wrap my hair in a towel to keep the hot moisture in as it repairs the damages.
2.) I buy Herbal Essence Dry, Damage, Dyed, Permed Shampoo and Conditioner.( Everyday)
3.) Add a leave in conditioner.
Here are some tips for keeping your hair healthy.
* Always use a heat protecter when using a blow dryer, straightener, curling iron etc.
* Never apply more than 2 leavin products to your hair. Ex.) Hairspray and Moose and Gel<= BAD!
* Never use NEVER use hair paste, gum etc.)
Good Luck!

Whenever my hair gets dry (like after I do the highlights then semi-permanent dye the highlighted parts) I always put hair cholesterol in it. I slather it in the damp warm hair and let it sit for a couple hours then I rinse. I also use Pantene's Deep Conditioner to help right after dying. And I do like Pantene Pro-V's shampoo and conditioner for color-treated hair.

The hair cholesterol is usually $5 for a decent sized tub (at least in my area it is). http://www.queenhelene.com/haircarechol2.html And yeah, definently don't go back to that place! Good luck!

How often do you get your hair cut? After four years your new hair should of grown in by now. Sounds like you need a good trim, then conditioning treatments, also a leave in conditioner.

Use a good deep conditioner. As digusting as it may sound, I have heard mayonaisse works real well. Put it on your hair, then let sit for 5-10 minutes. Rinse well!

You just need to go to a different salon. If I'm not happy I don't leave until they make it right, up to and including return visits at no charge.

no, pantene coats your hair with oils... you need to find a hairdresser that actually knows what their doing. There are some salon training places or you could ask a hairdressing teacher.
