Your psychiatrist will NOT tell your mom about the cutting. That is part of the deal when you see a psychiatrist...they want you to be able to trust them, so they will not go blabbing to your parents. That is not to say that they will not encourage you to talk with your family, but they will not go tell on you.

That said, you need to go see a psychiatrist or counselor and be treated. Do not delay or worry about the consequences.

I know you don't believe this, but things WILL get better...REALLY and truly. Your feeling of being helpless and frustrated and thinking that it will not get better is PART of the disease of depression. When you are treated, you will start to slowly realize this.

depression and isolation, (which im guessing is happening as well) are so heavy and the weight of your feelings seem to be so much more powerful than the rest of you
why do u want to keep this from your mom? even if she has stress, or seems detached, or is part of the reason you are feeling this way, what would happen if she knew?
i am probably 15 yrs older thanyou, and just this morning took a giant step toward getting help for whatever the heck is wrong with me, because i have been overwhemingly sad and angry and funked in the brain for as long as i can remember.
call that # you have. even if the Dr. can't personally help you, at least they can give you info which starts you in the best direction to helping you get yourself better.
but the way u've been feeling will still seem too heavy-things will be too hard or inconveinent or weird. for just a little while. as you start to move, the burden will get lighter. things will not be as hard.
don't wait as long as i have,
good luck :)

you need help there is a reason for ur turmoil in your way of thinking perhaps a chemical imbalance or ur life is going nowhere and u need guidance and got confused and bloodletting is a bad thing like being anorexic and bulimia. Tyrosine is a natural amino acid our brain lacks in all depressed people and addicts. You can try that 2 pills a day from gnc but u need to talk to a counselor somewhere away from your home.. they will help you try to understand why u think that way but u need to ask ur self.. what do u want out of life to be in a day to day work environment.. what do u expect from people? what will make u happy a small thing anything at all and why that is.. if ur a minor and u tell a dr u blood let yourself ( cutting) they will admit u to the phsycho ward. there is no magical pill for depressed people they just put u on zanax paxil other sh-t to make u mellow and then ur liver goes adn tyrosine is most natural to balance u out but it is the power in U to observe what makes u sad.. write it down the times and what u were doing at that time.. ur hormones and chemical balances coudl be very much out of whack therefore if u cant figure this out and try to work thru it urself see a endrocinologist Dr.

Do you know who Jesus is? Do you have a Bible? If so, look up Zephaniah 3:17, Isaiah 49:16, Psalm 139 (whole chapter), and John 3:16-18. God loves you so much that He sings over you every second of the day and night-Zeph verse; your name is written on His hand-Isaiah verse; His thoughts of you are as numerous as the grains of sand on the seashore (imagine a handful and then look at how many grains of sand there are in that fistful)-Psalm; and He sent His one and only Son to take your place on that cross-John verse. You are very precious in His sight and wants you to know that He loves you. There is a verse in the New Testament where Christ is in the Garden of Gethsemane and tells His disciples that He is depressed to the point of death-but He did not take His own life. He laid it down for you and me. He has been there! He is with you right now. Just talk to Him. He is your closest friend and will never, ever abandon you.

Aww hun sorry to ehar that. Well you should really tell your mom about the cutting. She should stick with you and help you out if she's your mom. Don't worry - you'll work things out. There's medications specifically for depression. It could be something you were born with too, maybe a lack of saratonin (sp?) it's a chemical in your brain that controls your emotions or allows you to feel happy. I'm not sure. But anyway I'd contact the psychiatrist then work it out with your mom. Good luck! :)

you can talk to a psychiatrist without your parents finding out, most states protect the medical confidentiality of patients, even from parents, if the child is over 15. it is important that you talk to someone though, if you constantly feel sad for more than 2 weeks, you could very well be depressed, and the suicide attempts could be your way of calling for help.

worrying about what to do with your life may be too big a task right now... how about starting with what to do with each day one at a time.

don't be ashamed to talk to your doctor about the cutting either... Johnny Depp has suffered from self cutting most of his life and he still lives an amazing life... there are ways to learn to live with it.

HOney you do sound like you are depressed. If you are old enough to have the number of a psychiatrist then you should also know that everything that happens at that office is in the strictest of confidence. That you would have to make quite clear first thing with them.
You need to talk to someone. Do not be afraid. But please speak to some one.
If you are nervous about it please feel free to join my online support group. It is a new group and really small but this is what it is for. You can "talk" all you wan there and no one will judge you for it.
But please confide in some one.

I'm sorry to hear about this. It definitely sounds like depression and you should call the psychiatrist. People can't help you if they don't know what's going on. I know you don't want your mom to know, but maybe she'd help you through it. I don't know how long you've been cutting, but you need to seek help. Cutting could become an addiction that you'll fight for the rest of your life. I believe you want help, so please reach out and let your mom help you!

Best of luck to you!

You do need to get professional help. Do you want to stop cutting? Can you talk to your mom about things at all? If you have a good physician, you might try talking to him or her first. It will be a first good step.

Don't worry about your psychiatrist telling your mother about cutting- mine has never revealed that kind of information to my mother, so I trust yours won't either. Tell your mom that you are really down and you think that you should seriously see a psychiatrist.
