No, because we also inadvertently use God's name in our speech.
Eg: What in God's name are you doing? Why did you do such a silly thing? God help us! Oh God, how dumb can he/she be?
And of course, Oh my God! in describing a blunder in sports, a joy in winning or in tragic circumstances.
It has become such a common figure of speech. I don't think anyone is deliberately using God's name in vain though.
For it to be a sin, depends on intent. And I think God, in all His Fairness, looks at the inside of a person, whereas we humans, always tend to look at outwardly appearances.
That's the beauty of God.

"Oh my God" is actually a biblical expression (try 2 Kings 6.15 - there are NT verses as well but I haven't found them yet), so to say that it is taking the Lord's name in vain is theologically incorrect, especially as it doesn't use the LORD's name!
It is however an expression that people use with very little thought as to what it means. There are better expressions to be offended by such as "God is greater" when Jesus was so hot on humility....

only shallow prats who know no better get offended.
Those that know Him, respect Him and know that His love goes much deeper than mere calling names etc. Jesus' death was for ALL rebellion in its vilest form not just a few poxy swear words.
The celebs who speak this way are only showing themselves to be crass individuals with no awareness of life, the universe or anything other than their own reflection in the mirror.
respect!

yes, I am offended that the brain dead twats can't structure a sentence. I am offended that they are paid obscene amount of money for very little or no work while others are starving.
If there is a god, the lazy git should get his finger out of his *** and start zapping people.

It's a figure of speech, so not so much. My mom always used to say it a lot though, and it was really obnoxious because she would do it while watching movies or something...

No! Why should it be so offensive? If someone calls your name in a response is it some kind of sin. Why should people walk on eggshells with regards to someone who is supposed to be so forgiving, understanding and wise?
This religious stuff just never adds up!
Why is it disrespecful - WHY?
Why is it takign his name in vain - EXPLAIN!

No, it is irritating but not offensive - its only a western expression afterall nothing more. Try not be so sensitive, have you considered seeing a therapist, they might be able to help. Good luck. :)
