I wouldn't allow a 6th grader to have a laptop. It's too portable and easy to be sneaky with it (playing games you wouldn't allow or on bad internet sites, etc..). I would get a family desktop computer that is in a public area for the previous reason. Most 6th graders are not mature enough so that parent can be the mature one.

None. Sixth graders are too young to have a laptop, in my opinion. If any at all, my personal preference is any Dell Inspiron model.
