why do the english drive on the right side of the road and most of the world on the left?

A few relatively uncivilized countries, including England, drive on the left. Because the Ford Model T had the driver on the left and introduced driving to most of the civilized world, most of the civilized world, and even most developing nations, drive on the right.

You have it reversed, the British and Australia and Japan, and a few others drive on the left. Sweden did once too, but change over to the right side, a few years back.
It goes way back before they had cars, as to the why of it, who really knows.
