The General Instruction of the Roman Missal, section 322 states:
The wine for the Eucharistic celebration must be from the fruit of the grapevine (cf. Luke 22:18), natural, and unadulterated, that is, without admixture of extraneous substances.
The wine can be red or white.
Ideally all the Catholics at the Mass share both the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
With love in Christ.

They are called sacramental wines and they are a variety of red wines some with spices in them so the flavor is extraordinary. Near me there is The Brotherhood Winery in Washingtonville, NY. They make sacramental wines as well as conventional wines and I believe they have a website which should be real easy to find. I have been there for wine tastings and the sacramental wines are really very good. You can maybe even order them on line.

I was catholic growing up and we used red wine; though Red or white; dry or sweet doesn't matter in dealing with the Eucharist. now what matters is the purity of the wine; so it is not unheard of for priest to put grape brandy into the wine to give it the proper alcoholic properties which should be no more then 18% by volume. They will often add water (holy water or hot water into the wine which symbolizes the turning of water in to wine at the wedding at Cana or to purify the chalice {no one knows for sure exactly why}) into the wine. for more info go to http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/01358a.htm or http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/15564a.htm
