I admire them. They probably know what you friend is thinking and saying, and they have the courage to still go there and expose themselves to that anyway.
FYI, a lot of fattys were formerly thin and in shape. Your friend is just asking for a great big karma slap!

Well, I completely agree. That's why I love those new 24 Hour Fitness commercials. They show regular-looking people who really want to get fit. I think it's a great message. I'm not over-weight and I never have been. I don't have to work very hard at all to get really fit looking. I know I'm lucky but that doesn't make me a better person. I really admire the people who are overweight and stick to it because they want to change and be healthy. I think it says a lot of positive things when a person who is overweight is working out at the gym. They have discipline and they have decided not to care about what idiots like your friend are saying about them. If I were you, the next time your friend said something I would say, "You know it's a lot harder for me to listen to you than look at them!" I'm sure your friends negativity can bring you down during a workout.

I think it's great I mean, how else are they going to start losing weight right? Your friend is cruel and lame for making fun of the heavier people. I'd make fun of her for being so stupid and immature. I don't know how "perfect" your friend thinks she is but there is one thing she needs to work out - her brain!
Since when do you see only perfect bodies go to the gym anyway? Or is she one of those annoying women that go to the gym only to pretend to work out all done up with make-up and a cute outfit just because she wants to be noticed by the guys at the gym - attempting perhaps to pick up or get picked up on by guys?

Your buddy is an idiot. Tell her it's her fault there are so many overweight and out of shape people, because they are too scared to go to the gym out of fear of persecution from idiots like her.
Sorry, if that was harsh, but no one has the right to judge another in this way, especially if the people being criticised are actually making an effort to do something about themselves. HTH.

Your workout buddy is stupid.
Obese people go to the gym to try to get their body back into shape. What's the point of going to the gym if your body is perfect?

I agree with you. At least those people are making an effort to lost that weight. Tell your workout buddy to be careful what he/she says because someone's gonna hear one day. And I'm sure all 350 pounds of them can beat your friend up! Lol. Anyway, yeah, they are there so that they can get rid of the fat. So you have to give them credit.

Your "buddy" is a bigot and shouldn't be you buddy at all. These people are trying to improve their health by doing this. Not to mention that they know there are people at the gym judging them so it is even harder for them because they have that to overcome, as well. How perfect is your buddy, anyway?

I certainly hope your buddy isn't bald or wears glasses or has an accent or is Republican/Democrat or is less than 6ft tall or over 6ft tall, or is blond/redhead/brunette or likes/hates rap music. Your bud had better figure out PDQ that those people he sees in the fashion mags etc. aren't the norm. for the majority of people. We all have our little "defects" & unless your bud is in complete denial, so does he. We are who we are & the differences are what makes things so exciting.

I think they are to be admired for their courage and determination. Gyms can be overwhelming places for most people, but I can only imagine the guts it takes for those who are severely overweight. Not to mention it's got to be going through their minds that people are making fun of them, and apparently, thanks to your workout buddy, THEY ARE!! I've always felt that people who feel the need to make fun of others have self-esteem issues anyway... sad. But hurrah to those who brave it anyway and do their bodies good!
