How can mormons be considered a religious group (cult) when so many commandments are broken in the way they live their lives? What self-respecting women would allow her husband (owner, master) to be married to other woman at the same time as herself? Not only is it gross, disgusting, perverse and morally wrong, but illegal as well.

I've wonder about the very same thing and the only thing I have come up with is they're stupid, there is no way on Gods green earth would I be married to a man that has 3 or 4 other wives. Stupid! I seen a documentary on mormons, the ones in Utah, and they do marry more than one person, but I noticed it wasn't the women taken on several husbands, it was men taken on several wives. Whatever the case it ain't legal and the mormons in Utah practice multiple marriages.

I'm not sure what religion you practice but mormons are not the only ones that practice marrying more than one person. King David of the bible had like 10. So did Moses and several other Christian prophets. Several other countries as well see it as a common practice. The commandment is do not commit adultry, the definition of adultry is to cheat with someone you are not married to, so they would marry her also and it was legal. Many women are ok with it because it would take the stress off of providing an heir so to speak for their husband, when the days of having 12 children were common, how could you expect one woman to deliver all of them and if she happen to be barren the man was humiliated and his line severed.

First, I didn't know that Mormons were also known as morons. Who decided on that?

Second, Since when is the husband the "master" or "owner" of the wife?

Third, I'd like to meet some members of the LDS church who still practice poligamy? I live in Utah and every family I know has only one husband and only one wife. Poligamy was not only abolished from the church practice but as you said is also illegal these days. However, to straighten things up a little bit I would like to remind you of Abraham who had lots of wives. If it was right for him why wouldn't it be right for us in our days? God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow and He never changes, right?

Last, I'm a member of the LDS church (Mormon is just a prophet in the Book of Mormon and we don't usually like being called that) and I know what our practices are and it doesn't make me happy to hear others disrespecting me and my faith.

The mainstream Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints no longer practices polygamy. Polygamy started because the belief that women can't get into Heaven unless they are married. The church went through a period of significant persecution before Joseph Smith and Brigham Young led the group into Utah, to the point there were not enough men to go around.

The pedophilia and near slave conditions that pass for polygamy in that state NOW, is totally WRONG!

Mormons, a cult? Get your facts straight. The reason that Mormons USED TO marry multiple wives, was to get the Mormon population up so they did not fade out. This is not practiced or any longer excepted by the Mormon religion (NOT CULT). People who are still doing this are breaking the law and not seen as true followers of the Mormon religion.

I'm not Mormon but i used to hang out with a lot of them... first off its called polygamy and it no longer practiced and those that do practice it are excommunicated from the religion. it was used a long time ago during times of war and what not when there were not enough men around to reproduce. i am not a particularly religious person but perhaps you shouldn't bash on others because no one is perfect.

What a rude question. Very few Mormons practice plural marriage, and most are very nice folk that care about other people. It is only your narrow viewpoint that decides that their actions are "gross, disgusting, perverse and morally wrong" Who are you to judge others?

not one in the same
1st You have the Mormons that practice polygamy(unsure of spelling) which went out of the actual church in the dark ages
2ND "REAL" Mormons who just are trying to live there lives the way they think god told Joseph Smith
3rd Jack Mormons who practice not one thing the church teaching in fact usually ignores it completely than when forced to say what religion they fall back to I am a Mormon I was baptized

You're talking about the FLDS church, the messed up religion that split away from the mormon church back in the 19th century. Their leader is also on the FBI top 10 most wanted list.
