hope you make your trip. Fear of hieghts is very common. I was terrified but tend to meet things head on so took up rock climbing . Then I found some years later that the thought of a plane ride really didnt sit well. I had never been abroad and wanted to fly to Greece. I went extreme and did a skydive from 13000 feet. The plane ride was a cakewalk. I found being on the plane was like riding on a bus.. no big deal at all really. face your fear. good luck. :)

When you get into an aircraft, you will be like sitting in a coach. You will see people all around you, and the plane jolts as the bus does, including the bunps on the road. So you need note really fear flying. If you fear height, just do not look out the window. Get a seat on the aisle where you cannot view the outside.
Fly a few times and you will get to enjoy the feel.

No, it would take weeks to get there. My mom is very scared of flying, and her doctor prescribes her a strong Valium to knock her out on the flight. She takes it right before boarding, and she can still walk, but she is pretty out of it and not worried about anything. And, once, you are on the plane, if you don't look out the window, your body doesn't even recognize that you are up high. I'd say start with a short flight (an hour or two from your home) first and try out the Valium trick. If that flight goes OK, then you can venture on to Japan.

When you board, just remember that you are so much safer in the air that on the land. Get an Aisle seat and once you are in the air, you know that it is just like riding a huge bus. Think about Japan through the flight and you will zip through it!

If you take drugs check how they affect you a couple of days BEFORE you fly. My husband took a bunch of medicine from his doctor and ended up arguing with me while laughing like a drunk across the ocean. NOT FUN

Apparently i heard tokyo is the worst airport for landing and taking off. Something to do with the skyscrapers, they have more of a sharper climb and fall.
