This question is been asked more then once, maybe we should just start WW III so no one has to ask this question again.

No, unless there's an accidental launch of strategic nuclear weapons, which would induce a retaliatory strike by one of the super powers. Until then, we'll only see regional wars, proxy wars, terrorist attacks, and various other conflicts between rump states.

When the strategic super powers get into the act ....on opposite sides, then we'll talk WWIII. Until then, the middle east is a side show among rump states...albeit a dangerous spark to a larger conflagaration. Remember the 6- days War had Israel facing off with Egypt, Syria and Jordan, and it wasn't considered the start of WWIII, altho it had the potential... It all boils down to the actions of the strategic powers (US, Russia and China).

We haven't entered WW III, but I know World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

Was the cold war WW III? Are we just fighting an extension of that? Are we still in WWII?

A large scale war always seems immanent, and will probably occur sometime...
