You are correct. A "religion" is defined as being a spiritual belief system. Since they choose to deny any spiritual belief system, that, in its self, is a spiritual belief system.
To believe or not to believe-that is the question.

First, I assume you're talking about the United States and not generalizing to Europe and the rest of the world.

Second, I want to strongly disagree that "atheism" is a religion. Religious people need faith to answer difficult questions. Atheists prefer to let science answer as many questions as possible, and then leave open to doubt the unanswerable questions. Atheists don't take things on faith, so atheism is not a religion.

In the U.S., atheists are a small minority. We were largely content to live and let live until the so-called Moral Majority and its offshoots hijacked so much of our political system and began to impose its will on our education sytstem.

Basically, you see as an attack by atheists, but I think any attack by atheists is really counter attack to the take over by conservative christian groups.

I think most atheists would have no problems with religious believers if they would fully comply with the separation of church and state. We don't care what believers do in your churches and your homes, as long as you don't try to impose your beliefs on those of us who do not share them. Given that so many Christians feel that they are "called" to convert non-believers, that doesn't seem likely.

"They attack other non-believers so much that atheism must be a religion."

Why kind of logic is that? What does not liking something have to do with religion? So mass murderers must be the most religious people of all, look at how many people they've attacked!

They're not zealous about their religion: they don't have one. They're zealous about other people imposing their views on them.

If you don't believe in using cars but end up (a) having to dodge them while crossing streets (b) not being able to get anywhere without using one (c) paying thousands of dollars in taxes to support them and the roadways they use (d) having your health affected by the pollution they spew out, you'd be pretty zealous about spreading your "beliefs." If cars had no impact on you, you wouldn't really care if people used them or not.

Cars are a concrete example. Religion, of course, is less tangible. But to the extent that it does impact the lives (intellectually, morally or practically) of people who do not believe in religion, it makes those people just as zealous to not have it impact them.

No, atheism is not a religion, although many theists, especially Xtians, like to claim this in order to set up a straw man argument.
But we can be passionate about our approach to life; when we encounter lies and untruth being promoted, when we come across complete bullshite being forced on people, sometimes we feel compelled to react, but the only alternatives we are advocating are critical thinking and objective truth- the antithesis of religion.

Sorry to inform you,but Atheism is not a religion. No real Atheist would dream of attacking believers, you are entitled to believe anything you want.I will defend myself against those believers who come to my door trying to convert me.I don't bother them, they shouldn't bother me.If you are firm in your belief, why do you let Atheists bother you so much?

. It's the Christers who constantly try to convert ever one (for their own good. They are so soft hearted they don't want anyone to suffer damnation. And if some one says 'no thanks', they tell you're going to hell! As if they just made that determination, rather than their God.

I haven't heard one Atheist try to convert anyone to their credo. I have never had an Atheist intrude on my door step and actually try to argue his belief with me. There are no Atheists leading us into war, and no Atheists anything, but choosing what to believe.

I do many things religiously, like brushing my teeth, writing to loved ones and rejecting damned fool suppositions.

Atheism in the dictionary:

Disbelief in or denial of the existence of God or gods.
The doctrine that there is no God or gods.

No God, no religion.....get it.
Atheists usually try to actually reason with people and don't accept 'God did it' as an answer.

Having a "conventional of certainty (good judgment?)" does not equate to atheism being a faith. good judgment consistent with se has no longer something to do with faith. All religions use good judgment interior of their own set of dogma to reach at conclusions per premises derived from that dogma, that's to declare that the conclusions are meaningless outdoors the religion as a results of fact dogma has no foundation in certainty. As an atheist, i does not state that I easily comprehend that something that must be pronounced as a god or goddess does not exist- yet i comprehend that all and sundry the gods and goddesses human beings worship that i'm attentive to do no longer exist, as a results of fact the claims made approximately all of them are fake. What i come across thrilling on your question is which you seem to treat the human strategies as having no function in regard to faith. to apply a number of your person terminology, would you assume that if somebody threatens to kill me, I, as an atheist, would desire to forget approximately approximately that as being only electrochemical alerts taking a various course in the strategies of the guy threatening me, or would desire to I regard it as inidicative of what the guy making the assertion is possibly to do? If i decide to stay, the latter. i do no longer possibly care how human beings arrive at their conclusions pertaining to to religious concept. i'm rather extra fascinated approximately what consequence their ideals would have on the international I stay in. it is my genuine challenge.

Why do you feel the need to generalize? There are pushy atheists, yes, but there are also pushy Christians, Jews, and Muslims, and the fact that they exist doesn't mean that all people of those religions are the same way.
