While in high school, I attended science classes at both a public and Christian school, and guess what- we learned almost exactly the same thing. The only difference was basically the first chapter which talked about the origins of earth, age of earth, origins of life, etc. In the public school it emphasized the earth being billions of years old, big bang, and the rest of the theory of evolution stuff. But in my Christian school we learned what evolutionists believe, what theist evolutionists believe, and creationism (of course the major emphasis was on creationism being correct) Other than that, the same thing was taught. I was just wondering why some people feel that the theory of evolution somehow transcends all areas of science and have the notion that you must believe in evolution to understand or want to study science. I’ve taken different anatomy & physiology classes in college, microbiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and the theory of evolution wasn’t brought up in either one. The only class that it was brought up in was my psychology class in which my professor spent the entire class preaching the theory of evolution to everyone though it wasn’t in the textbook, nor do I feel had anything to do with what we were studying.

Science isn't something you believe in, it is a collection of facts, observations, and theories that explain how the universe works. Creationism isn't science because it relies on the supernatural, and therefore can't be tested in a scientifically meaningful way.

Creationists are opposed to evolution, but perhaps not opposed to other areas of science. The most die-hard creationists, however, are also opposed to the Big Bang and anything else that suggests that Earth and the Universe is more than about 6000 years old - that includes astrophysics, geology (dating of rocks), physics, and chemistry. So to be a true creationist, then you would have to be against many other sciences besides just evolution.

No one ever said that evolution must be understood in order to understand science in general. If someone did though, he's an idiot.

However, I would like to stress the point that evolution only has ONE theory in itself. Evolution doesn't really involve the big bang or the origin of the earth anyway - just how life on earth originated.

Of course, some creationists believe in science, but some do not. In my opinion, no creationist or religious person fully believes in science, because science contradicts every aspect of any supernatural being.

That is because Creationism is religionous not scientific in nature. People who believe in it have no proof that it is true nor do they have any proof that the two can't exist at the same time.

Either way it has little to do with science which studies what has happened and can happen rather than the cause that they happened like Creationism proclaims.

Creationists have no more place in science than science does in faith based religion.

This is really only a debate in the U.S. The rest of the developed countries the overwhelming majority of the population accepts the theory of evolution. The scientific evidence supports this and I think it is a lack of education in our country that makes this such a hot topic today. You can have your religion and still accept evolution.

I'm thinking you made the 'creationists don't believe in science' thing, while most people believe the christians don't believe in evolution, that has no standing on the rest of the scientific world.

science doesn't need to be believed in because it is made on facts and reality. people need a big conception so that they can dream about. and they see science as that stone standing in their way.
