I am moving into a two-level townhome and I am concerned about being asleep upstairs, and not hearing if someone breaks in downstairs. I would like to get those door and window alarms where you attach part of it to the door frame and part of it to the door and it sounds when they are opened. I've been browsing around and they seem really cheap, like 10 bucks, and that makes me skeptical. Anyone know what brands are good ones? I need one that is loud enough to wake me up upstairs.

set a trap, put a thin wire across areas which u think a person can invade. Once the wire breaks an alarm can go off.
Or u can just stay awake ;)

Why not invest in a barking dog alarm - they seem to deter anyone who has the meanest intentions.

Check online or in some stores. They appear to have some that work very well.
